Engine Oil and filter

So while playing CS:S someone mentioned about amsoil being the best engine oil but someone said its expensive. I did a little research and been reading and comparing review for the past hour now lol... Amsoil is highly recommended but its not recommended to go for a full year with out changing oil or reaching its max at 25k miles. I'm using a Full synthetic 5w-30 Mobil 1 and I change it every 3k miles. I haven't done my own oil change in my V and I'm planning on doing so on my next oil change because i think the mechanic didn't change my oil filter. Usually after every oil change I usually reach 270miles till my Fuel light comes on but now I'm lucky if i reach 220miles. Then again this is my second oil change from them. So next oil change i will do it my self just to make sure that it's done right.

Question is why do people claim that Amsoil is more expensive than Mobil 1?
What is the best type of filter to use?

couldnt tell ya bro im fond of lucas oil tho

VersaMG08 They break down their new members and mold them into other NICO clones, it's an endless cycle. If you don't obey, either blend in or get recycled.

mobil1 is class III oil and is ONLY considered synthetic in the some countries. It is not considered synthetic in Germany or Japan because it's base is regular dino oil with additives. Amsoil is class IIII so it uses no dino oil and is full synthetic.

Amsoil cost more then mobil1 almost everywhere you go. But the mobil gas station down my street sells quarts of mobil1 for like $8. If you like mobil1 use it. It's a good oil, but buy it at walmart it's $22 for 5+ quarts. And if you ever see Amsoil for that price definitely grab that.

I don't suggest anyone goes a full year on their oil I do believe 3k miles is way too short though. Get your oil tested at 3k and see what they say. If they tell you to go longer then send in a 4k miles sample next time.

over the net they sell mobil 1 for 6.99 and amsoil for 8.79 so its only 1.80 more than mobil 1. if you do oil change every 6k miles(amsoil) it should be cheaper than mobil 1(every 3k) right? does the longer intervals void any engine warranty?

$1.80 a quart is alot of money. Your buying 5 quarts so right off the bat it's $9.00 more for the oil change.

Your engine is only warrantied by nissan for 36k miles. The two intervals for oil changes are 3750 and 7500 miles depending on your driving. There is a short questionare in the manual to determine which one is right for you. This is with the use of regular dino oil too not even synthetic.

BTW do not buy mobil1 for $6.99 a quart. That is a rip off. Search around for the 5+ quart jugs. They will be cheaper. Hope you have a walmart around you because oil there is really cheap.

I'm wondering, how many quarts of oil does the Versa take. If I can change the oil myself, then it's probably a better bang for my buck in the long run.

Had this in the gallery.

When referring to fluid capacities everyone should be listing what engine. Both engines take different amounts of fluid.

About the AMSOIL thing, one guy on CONOC asked if I wanted to become a dealer for their stuff. I haven't decided, but it will give me extra cash on the side if I do

I used to be sponsored by an AMSOIL dealer a few years ago when I raced motorcycles. I used the oil in my bikes and in my truck that used to get to the races. Using their filter and oil, I'd go the 25k miles without changing it. And even at the 25k (which I did in a year going to races in the SE), it'd be a dark brown. It never got black like dino oil usually does after 4,500 miles.

The stuff is very good. Most people don't usually want to pay for the extra up front, but it will save you money in the long run.
