Underbody sealant

I just bought a '16 Versa Note from the local Nissan dealership. Got the underbody coating as part of the sale. We've had a recent snow and there has been a lot of salt on the road. I washed my car but it was salty again right away. I brought it in for the coating and they said they would wash it. When I came in to pick it up, the car had not been washed. The lady up front in charge of after sale service claimed that they use a "solvent wash" before applying the coating, but I got it home (only 2 mile drive on roads that are now perfectly clear) and looked underneath and there was salt residue everywhere that they missed with the spray coating so they clearly did not clean anything before spraying.

So my question is, is this a big problem? Some people have told me that the salt trapped under the coating will rust FASTER. Others have said it won't really matter, that the coating will still do its job. I'm nervous because if there is rust I won't see it and by the time it's a problem the car will be out of warranty.

What should I tell Nissan to do to make it right or should I just not worry about it?

I guess my question is what type of warranty does that have? 12 months 12 thousand miles?

I too notice a lot of bare metal under my car and decided to not drive it in the icy salty road seasons til I investigated it further what an under coating would run or if its treated in another manner.

I agree with your last statement that trapping it between the paint will make it rust faster as it will hold moisture next to the metal.

The car was new so has the 3/36 warranty. The undercoat didn't include a warranty however if I got the entire "gold protection" package which included body rust proofing, paint rust protection and interior stain protection, it would have had a 10 year rust guarantee. I didn't want all the extra $900 worth of stuff so I just got the undercoat for $150. But there's no warranty on the undercoat, just some extra protection and sound absorption.

I just don't know how to tell Nissan to make it right. Seems they've really screwed up this car and it's only got 300 miles on it.
