Hello,
Can someone help me on how to change the serpentine belt? I have 50k miles and while the belt still looks good, I would like to replace it for a little bit of piece of mind.
Thanks,
Miguel

take passenger side front tire off, undo teh front fender well lining. look right above the crank pulley and youll see the tensioner. use a 14mm wrench to rotate it towards the rear of the car and it should come right off

I would inspect it for wear and cracks. If none there don't replace it. Especially if just replacing with a generic autoparts store belt. An OEM belt with miles on it is better then that garbage brand new. I like gates belts or whoever nissan uses for OEM myself.

any chance accessing the tensioner pulley bolt from above the car so you don't have to take the liner and wheel off?

20917 Nissan Versa 1.6 L No Jacking No Tire Off, No Inner Fender Off. Harbor Freight Pittsburgh 3/8" Long Handled Flex Flat Head Ratchet. 13MM Deep Socket, 13MM Long or Medium Length Box End Wrench, Pittsburgh Paint/Trim Removal 6 pc Tool Set, OR Tool Belt Hammer Holder Evercraft
Part #: BK 7769166 $9.29 at NAPA, Belt Hook Tool w/ Long Reach Aids In Removal & Installation Of Timing Belts, V-Belts & Serpentine Belts, Hook Allows Pushing, Pulling & Twisting Into Place Passenger side of car at the very front of the radiator there is a big hole using the 13mm wrench put either arm in and install the wrench on the nut of the tensioner pulley and loosed only a turn or turn and half then using the long flex head 3/8 ratchet with the deep 13MM socket in the same hole place on the side of the tensioner and loosen a few turns then you can turn by hand to the left and then the belt will come off using the belt tool and or the trim tools that look very similar to the belt tool. Then install over the crankshaft and using a 22 inch or longer screwdriver or one of the 3 long trim tools slide down the back of the engine against the crank pulley so the screwdriver prevents the belt from slipping off, then use the Napa belt tool to work around the A/C compressor and back around the tensioner and the water pump reach in and pull the belt up and over the alternator with the belt tool, now make sure the belt is in all the grooves and use the 13MM wrench to slightly tighten the tensioner nut and then use the 3/8 Ratchet and deep 13MM socket to turn the tensioner in ward and tighten the belt, when it has the required tension use the 13MM wrench and torque the pulley and start and verify no noise and the belt does not move out of the grooves rev then engine several times get your tools and close the hood you are done!

I suggest not to use any belt dressing. Serpentine belts work on the wedge effect of the belt and pulley. Belt dressing only causes the neoprene to swell for a short period of time. Then it is back to the squealing sound as the pulley bottoms on he belt. Unless you see cracks, or missing "v" sections and it is not squealing on startup, keep the OEM belt on as Rob suggested. .

The main thing to worry about with belts is tension and structure of the belt. Perpendicular cracks in the ribs aren't a telling sign of wear anymore, it's normal tendency for the belt as it breaks in. The tensioner has a wear/stretch indicator you can see. The pivoting tensioner arm has an arrow, and it sweeps through a mark on the stationary anchor point for the spring, if it's within that mark it's up to proper tension and when it goes outside of that it has stretched and is under tensioned.

Why can't it be this easy.

When I saw the name of the post I instantly had this video come to mind, unfortunately it isn't this easy.
