Scheduled Maintenance & Miles (timing belts, plugs, etc..)

Hey Guys,

I have an 07 SL versa hatchback CVT, its been a great car and we have 67k miles on the car. So far for a maitenance routine I did the 30k maintenance and had them replace the CVT fluid (which looking back didnt need to do so early), and have changed the oil every 3k, and replaced the air filter, and in cabin filter.

What type of future maintenance am I looking at?[LIST=1]
1) With these cars when should the timing belt be replaced?
2) When did you all have to replace your brakes, mine has disc front brakes and rear drum brakes what is the lifespan on those?
3) Any known major issues in the 07's? Any easy preventative maintenance to look out for?

Just looking for a good maintenance schedule just got a new job 50 miles a way so I will be adding 500 miles a week!!!!

Looking forward to everybodies repsonses.

Hey ! Welcome

#1. Versa's don't have timing belts.
#2. I'm still on stock brakes at 51K. I guess it depends on how hard you drive the car, mileage, etc.
#3. I have on 08. Only issues I know of for the earlier years was the fuel pressure regulator. I had mine replaced.

Yep no belt to change.

We do have a timing chain. I don't know when it needs replacement; should last quite a while though.

timing chain good for life i believe. Fuel pressure regulator only consistent issue i would say. just had mine replaced at $46 plus labour and taxes [out of warranty]. Will be about 160000km when i put on snow tires, and i will replace spark plugs then. They are pricey iridium plugs but they are good for 160000km/100000mi, probably more...

I've got an 07 also, although without the CVT. I do all of my own maintenance and one thing I have noticed is the air filter seems to get dirty pretty fast, compared with other cars I have owned. With the miles you are putting on yours (500/week) consider changing it out at least once a year. It is so easy, takes all of 30 seconds. Don't pay someone to do that.

I think the recommended coolant change is at four years (48 months) or so many miles. You may want to check your book. So you may be about due for that. I am fixing to drain mine and refill for the first time.

Once a year I; change the air and cabin filter, change wiper blades, drain and fill the transmission (4 speed auto) - Use only the correct Nissan Tranny fluid!!!, and starting this year, drain and fill the coolant. If you do this yourself, it is very inexpensive. I try to change the oil every 3-4k. My V is averaging around 12,000 miles per year of use.

Just follow the nissan maintenance intervals in your manual. With the timing chain you most likely will never need to replace it. The brakes will differ for everybody. It all depends on how you drive and what your commute is like. I currently have 74k on mine and can tell you it looks like they will last 100k. I don't really do any preventative maintenance. I don't like fixing what isn't broken.

current mileage 159,000
last tank 33 mpg -personal best 44.04 mpg and no I don't hypermile

I've been late in this but it's true there's no timing belt on nissan versas. On the other hand, the main intervals should be followed once in every 6 months or so.
