Well this past year i bought my 2010 S because i needed more room due to a new addition to the family.....in that not my wife missed alot of work so i couldnt really afford to drop any mods so i got to looking under the hood and had a brainstorm for a intake mod to last me until we get our money right.
so if you open your hood and examine your factory air intake box you will see the top lid or cover has small groves in it and theres a few of them.
if you want a good functional intake and the sound of a sri (short ram intake) and have a low budget try this out you will not be disjointed, just be tool and patient. here it goes.
step one take off the cover and mark the groves out.
step two is to use a very small drill bit and drill 3 holes in each grove
step three go up in size a little each time and start boring out the holes you made in the groves (be patient and dont go crazy drilling away you can really mess this up if your not carefull)
step four use the bit to sort of grind out the groves (i will be hard to keep even just be carful of how big of a bit you use)
step five after they are ground out use a small file or sand paper to even out the bore , and clean off the shavings.
step six drop in your new filter or old one (i purchased a apexi drop in off ebay for 35 bucks) then put the cover back on.
step seven take it for a test drive and listen to the difference. heres a video of what it will sound like (not best quality i used my blackberry) it does sound alot better and will notice a small bump in hp. with just this mod i ran a 11.25 @ 64mph pass at the 8th mile drag strip here and stomped on a turbo bug and civic si.
well guys remember how i said , "be careful you can really screw it up." well i did just that i got up today and was going to try and even out the groves a bit i started in on it and cracked in 2 of the groves in the center and the piece fell out and now it looks like garbage with big chunk missing
