14 versa CVT failure / replacement

anyone ever successfully replace one on their own at home (not in a professional shop)?
I have a 2014 Nissan Versa, 130k on it and the tranny is failing hard. I owe too much to just trade it in so please don't even suggest it. I am very capable of replacing engines and transmissions. Just this would be the first CVT I've done and wanted to get some feed back. I have also noticed you can't buy parts to rebuild and finding a new transmission is comical at the least..

Finding a good replacement may be your biggest problem. The trans is fairly specific year to year. Looks like you are talking $1,500/1,600 for the trans.

Might be throwing good money after bad.

My 16 Note w/cvt has 51,000 on it now...when it hits 58,000 its gone (warranty on cvt is till 60,000).

Trans changes just like other ATX but the problem will be getting a GOOD one used, as bad as new. You'll likely need TCM reflashing as well, no two transmissions will have learned operation in the same way. They have modded them so much you need as close to the exact model as you can get.

Click on the TM pdf and it will show you some idea of what needs to be done to remove and install the tranny. As another poster stated, if you pick up a used transmission, there is not guarantee that it will be in any better shape than yours. Good luck
