Functional? Dont think so. Visual? I've heard of a few ppl cutting theirs. They look good too. I would like to get one but I dont know if its a safe mod.
Cutting it doesn't make it a short-shift. If anything it is less functional because (in theory) when driving your hands are on the wheel and the closer the shifter is to the wheel the quicker you can be.
I believe there is a short shift kit out there, I can't remember where I saw it though. Possibly on microimage or versaspeed.

Cutting the shifter knob doesn't make it any better, especially the maybe 3 inches you will be able to shorten it. The shifter is as long as it is for a reason.
ok i wanted functional but seems that don't exist hehe if someone by casuality see one inform right a way its look good and i preferred that way i want to Finish almost all the mods this summer at least the external hehehe thanks guys
Cutting the shifter in a versa would make you much slower on a road course. 2" is a lot lower to move your right hand. Even a short throw shifter for a versa if made, would likely be stock length
There's no noticeable difference when I cut it. And you cant really make this car any slower anyway.hope someone will make a short throw for this car but most likely wont because its almost pointless
I emailed TWM today about if they are interested in making one, a member on cubelife said TWM is not interested but I thought it was worth a shot. If the short shifter fits the Cube and the Versa. They have quite a group of people to market for one.
I know on my 200SX (B14) a NX, Maxima, and Altima shifter fits that car [similar years]. I would like to see if any other cars would be comparable with the Cube/Versa shifter since they are cable shifters and fwd.
Alright guys, I just PM'd the Vendor of racingline over at Nico about finishing up the prototype they started. I will let everyone know what I hear from both places. Stay tuned.
I very much want to get a short shifter made for this car! My next step is to contact B&M shifters or other manufacturers that can produce one for us. We may need to get enough people interested in buying one before a company will produce one. If I can get a company interested in making one I will start a thread about it. This maybe our only chance guys.
If we're talking about the 6spd manual, The versa, cube, and 2.0 sentra and 1.6 juke all have 6spds, But the part numbers for the transmissions and shifters are all different.
What I would look into is if its possible to make the shifter from one of the 2.5 sentras work in our cars and then buy a readily available kit for that.
Interesting on the part numbers. The prototype that Racingline was working on wasnt a shifter... it was a piece that bolts to the outside of the transmission case. I am not 100% sure how cable shifters work on fwd cars because I have never owned one until now. I am use to the shift rods that all you change is the pivot point of the shifter itself.
Here is a picture of Racingline's prototype - It doesnt look like its very complicated to make... I dont understand what the hold up is after all this time.
How would one go about installing one of these? Is it something one could do in an afternoon with some basic tools?
