Man - you really hit on a lot of things I've been thinking about lately. The "middle of nowhere" idea won't happen, because my commute is pretty short, & I don't plan on travelling any real distance before I finally get this taken care of. I also have AAA, so my worst case scenario is pretty cushy.
And yeah, I knew the "how long can I push this" idea was a long-shot. I thought maybe since it's only happened a couple times it would be more predictable.
Spot on with the warranty info - I heard back from my dealership this AM, & sure enough it expired last June. So I'll be heading down to my local shop ASAP. I might look into that error code scan idea, though. Thanks for the heads-up on that!
