hey guys i just got a 07 versa and it drives well but for sum reason it drives then it starts smoking.. i have changed the pcv valve n it still does it after a period of time oild flows through the the valve cover breather line and gets into the intake n eventualy into the intake so it gets burn n the car smoke like a mosquito fogger..... :smilielol5: now i was told that the valve cover needs to change somthing about the inside of the valve cover where the breather lines are is bad but that makes no sense to me if anybody out there ever had this problem or knows the solution plaese help :thumb2:

well while your trying to figure the problem out you can install an oil catch can. Just be sure to empty it once in awhile and top your oil off.

I've never seen an issue like this on a naturally aspirated car that wasn't serious. I understand the VC thing. Usually there are baffles under the VC that the oil collects on instead of going back into the PVC tubing. But I still can't see this being the problem or as much of a problem as your getting.

Was this car ever worked on? You sure you have all the hoses hooked up correctly? Nothing kinked?

No the original owner for the car said they never had any engine work done to it . It started smokin real bad n they decided to park it ... Then I came along n they gave it tO me...I was thinkin on putting in a catch can too and run a line back to the oil pan and call it a day

Which engine do you have 1.6L or 1.8L? You can verify its oil coming from the valve cover by simply unplugging the line going into the valve cover. Put a bolt or something equally thick into the hose and tighten down the hose clamp. This will keep the intake from sucking in unmetered air. It wont hurt the engine to not pull vacuum on the valve cover, but some oil will spurt out of the valve a little. Then see if the engine still smokes.

I would also start checking the oil dip stick every couple hundred miles to see what your oil consumption is. The 1.8L MR18DE engine only has a 3 quart oil pan so you can burn through it quicker then you think. If your still burning oil after you disconnected the PCV line from the intake I would look at inspecting the spark plugs. You have to remove the intake manifold on the 1.8L (I have no experience with a 1.6L) so it requires some effort. Several people, including myself, have had the 1.8L go bad....particularly cylinder #3. #3 will be the 3rd cylinder (spark plug) from the timing chain side (timing chain is on passanger side). See if that is dirtier then the others. Not to put fear in you, but it is a somewhat common issue with the MR18 (see my signature). If you have the 1.6L HR16 engine then someone else with experience with that can chime in :)
