removing shift linkage 6 speed

i have to remove the transaxle to access a interior slave cylinder. However i can not find any information on disconnecting both of the linkage connections at the top of the transmission. i can tell that they are spring loaded but there is no push button or tools that work and the manual just says remove...

i wondered but was worried about breaking it. i will look tomorrow for a pry tool that can pry under both sides of it.

The plain one on the damper counterweight just pops off, the other one you'll notice has a red "button" looking thing. It locks the piece from popping off, once you remove it, it comes right off the ball. It has clips that hold it in, it has to be completely remove for it to unlock.
