in case of emergency remove seat!!

Well over this past weekend I attended a car meet (G20's). It was at the beach so I brought my daughter with me. She grabbed my keys and went into the trunk to get her crayons. She came back and said "Dad I closed the trunk with the keys inside". No big deal right, just pull the trunk pop lever. Wait the Versa doesn't have one. So just fold the rear seats down. Wait the sedan doesn't have that option either unless you have an SL. So my 5 year old daughter proceeds to tell me we will have to call someone to bring us the spare keys. Except I lost those a long time ago .

So what is one to do?!?!? Easy just pop up the rear seat cushion, unbolt the two 11mm bolts that hold the back of the seat on, lift the seat back up, and push the plastic divider out of the way. Total time for removal, get keys and replace was under 5 minutes.

Just thought I would share this story and info in case the same happens to anyone else. I want to replace those bolts with thumb screws or something where I wouldn't need tools. That way it's even easier to do the next time or if I have to carry something that I would normally have to lay the seat down if the car was so equipped.

No they do not. I don't think any versa without power locks has that button.

Thanks Rob, that's very helpful.

So SL sedans have the option that allows you to fold your rear seat down?

Yes they do. I was going to do a seat swap so I can have fold down seats but since I don't lock my car doors I use my trunk as sort of a safe for personal belongings. I figured the thumb screws or a wing type screw and no thieves would go through all that trouble in hopes something good might be in the trunk.

True, makes sence. And I'm interested in having my rear seat fold down. Would I have to swap seats or can I just install the brackets/setup in my car? I wouldn't want unmatched seats.

would definitely have to swap seats. There are more pieces with the fold down. It's not just brackets. Actually there really isn't any brackets. I wouldn't want mismatched either.

That's cool, I wouldn't mind having SL seats in my V. How would they be held in place though?

On the non folding ones there is just metal loops the two bolts go through. On the sl seats I dont really know how they bolt in. I assume the side pieces bolt the same way then those have brackets for the folding portions.
