2012 Versa 1.6 SV - please help

Hey guys,

I got my 2012 versa yesterday and have some questions. Would really appreciate if anyone here can help me out

First, the turn signal indicator lights on dash board dont work. The dealer first said it was designed in this way, and then promised me they will fix it. I was wondering if it's the indicator bulbs burnt out or something wrong with the electronic system. Would it happen again?

Second, the dealer tricked me into buying an alarm called pro tech or something like that. I paid 400+ for it. Just curious if anyone here have it. iS it worth the money?

Lastly, I would like to know how much did others pay for their versa. I got mine for $18000 with blue tooth, iPOD/Mp3 and the matt. Its 1.6 SV. The dealer seems not honest and I really want to figure out if this is a reasonable price. Thanks guys!

Welcome

For the sedan, with the 1.6, $18K seems a bit high to me.

I have never heard of the alarm before. What does it do? It might end up being beneficial to you.

Welcome to the forum, post some pictures out of your new car I'm sure we'd all like to see!

The one thing I kept in mind when dealing with dealers is this, they are sharks that will eat you alive for all your worth. It's their job and what they do and how they make their money. In the end it's always about the money, they are not your friend or your buddy they want your $. The trick for me was to get as much as I could for my $.

As far as the indicators (turn signals) go I would expect those to work on the dash display. I've not driven a car yet that has them and hasn't got them flashing when used. I'd return with the car and ask that they be fixed under warranty. If your dealer fails to help go to another Nissan dealership you may also consider calling Nissan's regional office in your area if your dealer gives you the run around. I can't help you with the alarm but I'd suspect if your saying "tricked"you into buying it then you may expect the worst which I'm hoping isn't the case. Have you tried google?

I don't have a 2012 model but when I bought my 2009 S in late 2009 I bought it new from the dealer and paid $13,500 all in out the door. Having said that I got a bare bones S model with A/C, Manual doors/locks and a 6 speed transmission. Yes I'd love the extras but I'm very happy with it over all.

I've never heard of the turn signal indicators not working...fuse maybe?

And in my opinion $18K for an SV seems too high, I mean the 1st gen S models went for around 13-15 so if you're paying that much for no alloys or fogs atleast its too much, I'd think the SL starts at about that price range.

I got my 1.6(2010) for 11,400 OTD, it doesn't have power windows, or locks, but for the price difference I'd get the S. That is if you're not picky...in my case, I'm only 20 so all I need is reliable transportation and I'm happy as long as I have A/C and a radio. Keep us updated on what happens...or what Nissan says.

Congrats on the new car purchase!!

Now if this next part seems mean, I am so so so sorry.....

Ok. I have never heard of that alarm before, and that must be a dealer thing. Most dealer would not approve of things like that, and claim they can void your warrenty. As far as the turn signals, I would march my butt up there and ask them to fix it, and if there is run around talk, I would demand! them to fix it, or home office will be called. As far as the price, yes I think you got ripped. I purchased a 2011 sentra special edition for $18,754 out the door, meaning car, taxes, etc. When the car msrp is close to $21,000.
You could have gotten an SL model for that price. Dealers can be mean people and will get you for everything if your not careful. You should have payed no more then $16,000 for that. I would say about $15,500. You should have a survey coming up and I would totaly flunk them. $18,000???? The deal could have been alot better. But it is up to the buyer to do there hmwk and find out all the information about the car and how much it's worth before walking into the dealer. It's not the dealer's job to look out for you and give you the best price, cause in the end they are looking after themelves. It sounds like the dealer I walk into for 10 mins, and end up walking out, lol.

Thanks for the response!

I guess there's no way I can return the alarm...but lessons learned...

They fixed the blinker today, but I run into a new problem...
The driver seat headrest is loose. The dealer checked several 2012 Versa and they all have a similar problem but not as severe as my versa. I stayed there for 6 hours and their conclusion is that this is a design issue not a faulty.... They told me they'll give Nissan a call on Tuesday and see how it goes

I was really pissed off but I guess there's not much I can do here.

Anyway, I still like the car and hope I can find a better dealer next time.
