Unhappy Windshield Fluid Sprayer Issue

Hi all!

New member, glad to be aboard!

Nissan Versa 2009 SL

I'm having an issue with my windshield fluid sprayers. The driver side had been very weak on cold days but when it would get warmer it would would work but it would jet out fluid instead of in a misting pattern and I was ok with that.

Today I am running into is that BOTH sides are weak. My fluid reservoir is full. The thing is, I tested the sprayers with the hood open and I get full blasts. When i close it, they both go back to weak. The driver side even is just a little stream that doesn't even hit the window. I don't think they are clogged because they do give full blasts...but with the hood open. I know it's a small problem...but annoying one too.

Any assistance/knowledge on causes/fixes dispensed I would be grateful for!

Thanks in advance!

Working when the hood is open but not when closed sounds like potential kinked hoses to me. I don't know where the sprayers are located on your car but if they are attached to the hood then the hoses would change position when the hood is open vs closed, and either with age they have developed a kinking spot when closed or they are in a position to get pinched when the hood closes. If you can't find any pinch points may just need some fresh hose that resists kinking and/or collapsing better than the worn hose.
