All hatch are alike, only thing that defines them are the headligts and taillights.

looks like i need to tell the gf her 2009 rio5 needs to go in replacement for a 2012 hatch lol

I fail to see the resemblance myself. Only thing similar about the two to me is I'm not too fond of either one .
