Where the white plug is connected? It's a 2008 Versa 1.8L

I could be wrong but that looks like a throttle body sensor.

Not likely, the TB is to the right.

More wondering about the apparent vacuum or water hose disconnected under that unit.

X2, yes it is. I see what's happened now, the white plug is plugged into the evap purge solenoid right there and the hose lying loose is actually supposed to be plugged into the right hand side (black) of the lighter color unit the white plug goes on. The nipple is broken off in the hose likely making an evap system leak, depending on how plumbed it may even be a running vacuum leak to mess up engine idle.
