I have a 2007 Versa. Recently my keys no longer open the driver’s door. I can still use the remote door opener to unlock the door. Any thoughts on what’s the issue?
if you can start the car fine I would say that the problem is not in the key.
Have you tried your second key? same thing?
Can you lock the door using the key? or it doesn't work all around?
I always use some graphite grease twice a year to keep the mechanism smooth...maybe it got jammed over time.
That can do it. Anything beginning with lock cylinder and stretching all the way down to the linkage hookup at the latch assembly can be at fault there. Often can be a broken link, many different ways used to attach the linkage parts together and most of them are plastic parts that cost 50X what they are worth other than you gotta have them.
I have a 2015 Versa Note and I noticed the same thing. I tried my other new key and it was fine, so I suspect the key was wearing off. I went ahead and made another key off of my new key. Problem solved.
A lot of people begin to use the remote all the time and do not ever use keys then the lock cylinder corrodes in place. Best to at least 3-4 times a year use the keys to open doors to keep the cylinders loose and working.
I have a feeling this is a one and done guy. (One post, never to be heard from again)
Anyways,
When you say your key won't open the door, does the key not turn? or does the key turn and just doesn't unlock the door?
