ac fan sound

When I turn on the AC I hear a slightly loud fan motor sound turn on. My wife thinks that there is something wrong with the Versa sedan we are about to buy. I'm not so sure. Any opinions or comments from other owners or mechanics?

Does it also make the same noise when you turn on the heater? If it does then it's the blower motor.

The slightly louder "fan motor" you are hearing is actually the air conditioning compressor. I know mine is pretty loud too.

it sounds like what the actual engine would sound like, if the engine wasn't so silent. With the AC on, all I hear is the compressor, with it off, car sounds dead. It will go on and off just like the other guy said.

It does that. When it's hot out my car's AC Compressor makes almost a roaring noise on and off.
