Swapped out the dino for some fresh valvoline synpower. The only choices for filters in walmart is supertech and fram so I went with supertech.

The oil change on a V is pretty easy. There is just a splash guard in the way of the filter. You can maneuver around it and get to the filter without taking the guard off. The dealer put the filter on super tight. But other then that the change went smoothly.

I am now on the 7500 mile schedule two intervals. I just hope the walmart filter can handle filtering for that long. If not then I may need to step up the filter to something else.

No it won't void

I spoke with a Nissan Service guy and he said as long as we keep receipts and a written record of oil changes, the warranty will be OK. I stay between schedule 1 and schedule 2, like in the 4,500 mile range which occurs within 4 months. I strictly believe 3 changes a year are perfect. My 98 frontier still purrs like a kitten under those rules.

I went to 10k oil changes. But I seem to lose about a quart. So I'm going back down to 7500. I drive 30k+ miles a year.

The 2014 schedule is 5000 miles, period

You can probably take your oil to the landfill or garbage center for cycling too

Is this your oil change schedule or are you saying this is the nissan recommended for the 2014 Versa?

Every 5k is a safe bet. I did that in my old car and the engine just kept on going. Lasted a long time and was very strong after 200k miles.

Do it right and take the splash guard off, i know it's a bitch, but if you reach in there, after a few oil changes that nice splash guard will have a nice big dip in it where you've been reaching and flexing it. I put new speed nuts in for that guard and i don't even tighten the bolts all the way when i put it back on. They don't need to be tight. Makes it faster to remove.

Its nissan's and its the schedule for almost all 2014 their vehicles. I will use synthetic though and probably stick with 7500 which will come out to about every 4 months.

I haven't seen the latest publications but nissan used to be 3750 for schedule one and 7500 for schedule two. I didn't know they changed it. I can't find anything online saying the 5k miles you state.

edit: I finally found something online stating 2014 and later to have 5k mile service intervals.
