2012 Versa Sedan - access trunk through interior?

Hi all,

My lock broke on the trunk of my 2012 Sedan. I have the lowest trim model, so no fold down seats or interior trunk latch release. The key no longer opens the trunk, it just turns with no result. Is there a way to remove the back seat-backs to gain access to the trunk so I can manually unlatch the trunk to fix the lock?

Thanks in advance!
Steve

You can tray and firmly grasp the seat cushion and pull up. This step is usually very difficult. But if that pops up look toward the bottom of the seat back for bolts. Take those out and then grab the seat back and pull straight up to the roof. It will not pull forward. It has to go up then forward. Once that is done there may be an opening blocked with a panel and a metal cross bar. Unbolt the cross bar and just push the panel into the trunk. The above steps worked on my 2009. It also was the same for my nissan 240's and Infiniti G20. All of these older cars obviously so things may have changed since then.

Thank you! I have tried and tried but cannot lift up the lower seat cushion. It is very firmly locked in the seat cushion hooks! I am a pretty strong guy and cannot get it to budge!

Can anyone help with hints on lifting the lower seat cushion? I'm stuck!

Slide your finger under the front of the cushion where it meets the floor carpet. Look for little pull tabs or feel for two bolts. Nissan has done it that way too but it's not as common as my first suggestion.
