Versa 09 refuses to start despite fully charged battery. No cranking sound

Hello Forum,

Seeking some help from the experienced folks out here.

I have a Nissan Versa 09 which has been sitting idle with an Intelligent battery charger plugged into it. The reading on the battery charger shows that the battery is charged to full capacity.

I tried to start the car today but to no luck.

When I turned the key, there were no lights on the dashboard console and no cranking sound. Something tells me that it could be the vehicle immobilizer and so I tried the suggested steps in the manual to keep the ignition switch in on/off position for the recommended number of seconds. This did not help.

My questions are:

Am i right in assuming this to be an immobilizer issue?
Could it be something else?

Any help to remedy the situation would be extremely helpful?

Thanks in advance for your help.

A) Check your battery terminals and make sure they are clean and making good connection.
B) Look for blown fuses. Likely a large fuse.
C) Check the ignition switch to make sure it is completing the circuit when the key is turned.

Could still be battery, the reading on charger may not mean spit. You can charge a battery up and if shorted right then spits its' guts out as soon as loaded. You need a loadtest at proper CCA to take the battery out of the equation as an issue.

I saw stuff like that countless times when I sold parts. Dead battery will often seem to charge up fine but you don't find out until you force it to do some work.

The other things too, battery cable connections go bad over time and need maintenance to bring them back up to like new.

+1 to what amc said. Can you honk your horn and work your lights? The battery may of lost some electrolyte and doesnt have the guts to operate the starter.

To answer the question about immobilizer, no this is not what happens when its triggered. You will have dash lights and the starter turns over still.

do the headlights work? is there zero power to the car?

Right now I am thinking fusible link at this point. But just guessing. Any chance some wires on the battery got crossed or wire to the alternator loose/broken?
