2012 Versa SL-Power Door Locks

2012 Versa SL-Power Door Locks

I have a 2012 Versa SL, about four months after the warranty ended the locks randomly stopped/started reacting on all doors, with the FOB, door switches and the auto lock 15mph feature, until they all stopped working. I can hear the clicking in the relay under the dash, I have checked the door switch connections and the actuator electrical connections, and attempted to push in the relay to ensure that it is seated properly under the dash. This week when I put the car in drive the RR passenger door abruptly locked itself when I reached 15mph and now reacts to the FOB, and door switches as well. Has any one else seen this, I would like to know the cause and what I can do to fix?

Checking connections with no word of how it came out is worthless to tell others, you may as well have said nothing.

I know Fords and not Nissan but many things work close to the same. On the Fords the latches dry up the grease to then begin to not move links quite all the way from drag due to no lube and the latches now commonly have internal limit switches (the Fords have at least two in every latch) that require 100% of the designed in movement of links, them not doing so all the time then make for very frustrating come-and-go problems.

Latches today are commonly made to destroy them to get inside but what I had to do on the Fords to fix them for pennies, often at a couple dollars vs. new latch at $150. They also compartmentalize the interiors to make it virtually impossible to simply spray like some spray grease up into the latch to free it up. You gotta love that part.

On the Fords I've seen the 5 mph autolock then cycle the latches on/off a hundred times before stopping, that one will freak you out. Or, driving car all doors locked then suddenly a couple pop to unlock for no reason. Or get out of car but leave keys in it and car unlocked and come back in seconds and locked out of car with keys in it. GRRRRRRRRRRRR.
