Distance on the highway and MPG

I've been thinking of taking my versa on a long trip. I'm getting a little worried about the rpm's on a long drive. Anyone take their car on a long trip? If so, what mpg's are you getting? Please post drive distance too

I do get around 600km from 45L 95Octen Petrol, with the Avg speed of 100km/h along with A/C ON.
If I drove it with some aggressive acceleration for those same 45L I do get around 500km.

(Sorry mate We don't use Gallon here, we use Liter ^_^ )

2016 Note CVT

It will run 70mph all day. RPM is about 2,100. I get about 38/39 mpg on the road. Actually about 2 mpg better in town. I have one of those phone aps that I use to keep track of mileage and other car stuff.

Longest run Ive done at a constant speed is 20 miles, 70mph between 35-41 mpg. I have a 16 S Sedan 5 speed about 4 thousand rpms.

I have the same car, Cobb. I got up to 70mph once for a short distance on the highway (less than 5 miles). My car appeared to be closer to 3500rpms at that speed.

I live 3 miles away from work and I drive through neighborhoods to get there so I really don't get to see how it performs. doesn't 3500-4000rpms seem high?

Don't worry about highway RPM, 4000 isn't a lot for a small engine. Should run at about 4000 RPM at 80 mph. I regularly run my 2018 5 speed model at 70+ and get 40 mpg. Longest highway drive I've taken in one day is about 500 miles.

You are right, 3500 rpm at 70.

No, most eco boxes rev that high at highway speeds.

Most lawn mowers, generators, pressure washers, etc run at those speeds for hours on end as well as air plane engines.

Just returned from 4500 Mile road trip. Average speeds 65- 75 mph on interstates. Set cruise control to posted limits and rpms between 2000 and 2500 most of time. When temps below 90 got around 40 mpg, above 90 got around 36 mpg.

Ive wondered why my mpg jumps like that myself. I assumed it was the ethanol content in the fuel. Its been warm and hot here every other week, so thats the same behavior I notice with mpg, but I run 3500 rpms or so.

2017 5 speed here

Posts about the RPMs are correct, my tach is right under 3,000 at 60 mph. That doesn't bother me, a Ninja 250 I used to own had a turbine-like 13,000 rpm redline. I regularly did highway runs at 10,000 rpm.

The MPG readout is wildly optimistic compared to how many gallons it takes to actually fill up divided by miles traveled. I would say it reads 10-12% high. The gas tank holds 10.6 gallons, so figure on a 9 gallon range. You will get range anxiety and sweat the distance to the next gas station in sparsely populated sections out west like northern Utah. If GPS says it's more than 200 miles to the next town, fill up before you leave. You don't want to be running on that last gallon as the fuel pump is in the tank and is cooled by the liquid fuel surrounding it. That's a good way to expensively fry your pump. Topping off isn't good either as you eventually hurt your emissions system's gas fumes recovery canister.

MPG at 60 is about 41

MPG at 70 is 37

MPG at 80 is 33 :-)
