Question Passing Smog Caused U1000 Code!

Another issue with the 2007 Veras SL I just got for my daughter - passing smog caused a U1000 code?

Went to California "test only" smog station and car passed, but when technician gave us back the car the check engine light was on with a U1000 code.

I'm suspecting when plugging in his OBDii he dislodged a wire or broke the plug. What you guys think?

The OBD connectors they use in business often have major problems with broken wires due to how many hookups they perform on cars every day.
