I am curious as to how many people know of the Carfax feature called MyCarfax, whereby you can maintain maintenance records of your vehicle online. Most of the dealers maintenance and some other garages will automatically post maintenance receipts to your account and you can upload receipts from non participating garages. You can also upload DIY maintenance. You can view the dashboard(reminders of oil changes, registration, etc) service schedule, service history, current value of your vehicle, etc. It is a handy "at a glance" type of record. It is a little easier than going through a physical file, especially as the vehicle gets older. It can also be presented to potential buyers when you sell the vehicle.

I kinda had a feeling it was to good to be true. It's a shame because this app could be made a lot better with just a few tweaks(ex., sending email when oil change/maintenance is due). The trade in value states my vehicle(2014 Versa S) is $5090 and gives it a good condition rating(with only 8500 miles,) so, a grain of salt.

For a free app, I still think it's great. It's one way to get a free carfax for any of your vehicles and makes for nice free, unlimited,
personal electronic record keeping.

$5090 trade-in is quite good for 5.5yr/old Versa S. The dealer will turn around and ask $7900 for it and probably take $7400.

FWIW, I just paid $6500 for my 2015 Versa 1.6s, 4spd AT, 43K miles private party. It came with a set of snow tire mounted on their own steel wheels as well.

Yes, you are right. It is good for a free app. Whenever I file my receipts away, I stop and post the receipt to my account.
One advantage to this is when I go to the dealer(for my 15,000 mile checkup) and they tell me it is time to change my CAF for $80, I can pull out my phone, access my account and say "no thank you, I have another 7000 miles left on my filter, but thanks for reminding me, I will start looking on ebay".

It sounds like you made a good deal on your vehicle(AT, snow tires, mileage).

This is the first new car I have ever bought. I have always heard others say it is a better deal to get a good used car. I believe it now. I paid a little over $12,000 for it new and even though it drives, feels and looks like a new car, the value has declined. And no matter how many letters I get from the dealer pleading desperately with me to trade my vehicle in(they say they are low on used car stock, so, I say, they can afford to pay more), I can't bring myself to do it. I will more than likely be driving this car for a long time.

I use MyCarfax for all my cars. I update the mileage regularly as I don't drive it as much as normally calculated. I add my own notes when I do my own work on the car. It also reminds me when an oil change is due. Works well for me.
