Transmission Servicing

I bought my 2007 Versa with 85,000 and now I have 120,000 miles. Is it recommended to have the Transmission fully serviced with Filter change, requiring the pan to be pulled. Or is it suffice to have the transmission fluid evacuated and replaced. AS well, are there any issues I may be facing in the future, and preventive maintenance recommended. I run Valvoline Synthetic and change oil every 4,000 - 5,000 miles.

I always wonder about those who are Pavlov trained to do engine oil changes but wait way too late to even think about the trans until likely damage has been done. If at 120K miles with no fluid change before that you are there, there is likely life shortening damage already there.

I had the fluid evacuated at 90,000,and replaced, but since I bought it 2017, the pan has never been dropped and filter changed.

I'd probably leave the pan as is at this point given the age/mileage. To me, as long as the AT is working well, refreshing the ATF is always a good thing. You reduce the amount of wear materials in the fluid and refresh the fluid's additives.

Your 2007 has a drain plug on the pan and an easy to get to dipstick tube for refilling. Easier than an engine oil change.

30K per change is a good thing to do on CVT if one can afford it. The most damage comes from not keeping the metal bits worn off parts from wearing other parts even more.

Filters do not need to be changed as much as people think, that was more Pavlov indoctrination from the '60s often not needed, I used the change filter only when they began to be clogged, often they could be simply cleaned and put back in, even back then. If one finds wear particles instead of simple sediment silt in pan then they may want to change them. Depends on the design, I always cleaned the simple metal mesh filters on the 3 Tempos I had and all 3 ran forever with no issues.

If at 100K+ and nobody has changed filter I would likely be doing that on mine just to view it, it can be a whopping indicator of wear.
