How-to: Remote Key fob Programming (non-smart key)

1. Close and lock all doors with the driverís side power lock/unlock switch.

2. Insert the key into ignition and remove it all the way about 5-6 times within 10 seconds. The hazard lights will flash if you have performed this step correctly.

3. Insert key into the ignition and turn it to the ACC position.

4. Within 5 seconds, push any button on the key fob. The Hazard lights will flash.

5. If there are any other key fobs, including the old ones, unlock then lock all doors using the driverís side power lock/unlock switch and within 5 seconds, push any button on the next remote. The Hazard lights will flash. Repeat this step for each key fob you wish to install.

6. When you are done with all key fobs, turn the key to the off position, remove the key from the ignition, unlock doors using the driverís side power lock/unlock switch and open the driver side door.

7. Your done!!! It's that easy!! I tried it and it works.

Nissan 4 button rectangle remotes DO NOT work for our cars, I tried it, lol!!!

If your Versa did not come with keyless entry, then the BCM (body control module) will have to be reprogramed/replaced with one that supports keyless entry. The BCM controls the accessories/electronics thru out the car that doesnt have to do with the engine or tranny, from my understanding. It is located behind the glovebox. Id like to know if keyless and cruise is lke prewired or something. Because u can get it for $250 from Nissan. So it cant be that much of a pain or hassle to add it. Just gotta figure out what its missing. But im willing to bet both are controlled by having the right BCM.

Your welcome. Its still worth a shot. See if the BCM can be reflashed in a way of speaking, to do keyless entry. I know there is also a little black box to the left behind the glovebox, that is the brain of the keyless system, if you have that, then the BCM needs to be looked at for programing.

I'm in the same spot. I have a 2012 hb 1.8s and it has power door locks but no key fob. I figured out how to disable the auto-unlock when you take the key out of the ignition but I can't get it into programming mode. I do have a bcm behind the glove box and an eBay key fob. I know a couple of people at Nissan and I'm trying to get the inside scoop. So far it looks like a new bcm is required, one with key less entry from the factory. Seems as if Nissan got wise to the easy eBay programming.

I have a 2012 Versa 1.8 Hatchback. It was a repo and only came with 1 key. Have had locksmith make three more keys for the price of one, because I supplied 2 transponder blanks.

Have been trying to program key fobs. Like many users around the internet, I am one of those who these programming instructions don't work. The car will never go into programming mode, i/.e. the hazard lights never flash. I try the remaining processes anyway, but it doesn't work. Here is what I have tried to far:

Had all the windows all the way up before starting the process
Verified the courtesy light comes on when each door is opened and goes off in a few moments.
Tried to check hood light the same way, but it doesn't have one.
Shut all doors
Locked all doors with driver's lock buttom
Repeated the key insertion process many times with several variations.
In and out as quickly as possible multiple times
in and out methodically multiple times
In and wiggled and out multiple times

The hazard light NEVER blinked as described.
Verified VIN with online source that the car had keyless fob support
Verifed VIN with dealer and he said it came with a keyfob initially.
He warned me not to try to program it myself as I could wipe out programming on the key and even in the car (BCM module)
He wanted to sell me one for $150 and $100 more for program and that would include all my keys being reprogrammed

Tried Tiida programming instructions I found online several times, also with variations with no results.

On thing I noticed: Everytime the key was inserted into the switch the FIRST time it unlocked the car. Car did not relock on its on

I have exhausted sources. Anyone have a fix for this? I will by an aftermarket system installed for $129 before I will pay that from the dealer.

Thanks
