How-To: Replace the Starter on a Versa

Hello,

The starter just took a dive in my '07 Versa so I decided to bust out my tool box, slap on my jumpsuit and replace the starter myself Here is a fundamental procedure for replacing the starter in a 2007 Versa:

1. Disconnect the battery negative terminal.

2. Remove air duct (inlet).

3. Remove reservoir tank.

4. Remove S terminal nut.

5. Remove B terminal nut.

6. Remove starter motor bolts. (refer to this '07 Nissan Versa Starter diagram)

7. Remove starter motor.

8. Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

Caution: Be sure to tighten B terminal nut carefully.

Hopelessly addicted to Versas since 2007!

I've done many a starter jobs. Probably one of the hardest i've done was my 98 Sentra. It was behind the motor next to the firewall. I had to lay on the ground and reach up (little room of course) to barely reach the starter and change it out. It was pretty much a p.i.t.a. So how hard was it in the Versa? How long did it take you? How much for the starter? Did you get oem or rebuilt/aftermarket?

hear ya. Canada has been metric since 1977 but I still prefer miles per imperial gallon, inches of rain and snow, and my AC at home set to 74 deg F!
Hope i never need the starter diy, but i'm glad it's here

I want the freezing temperature to be zero not 32...
I do like gallons, inches, miles, farenheit, ect... because that's what we use here. if I was in Canada then I would adopt liters, meters, kilometers, celsius, ect... and learn a lil bit of French I like posting both, miles and kilometers sometimes

good writeup. If the op or anyone else takes pics of the process I'll add them to the first post. Howto's and pics go together like peanut butter and jelly .
