You really think so?????

Not sure if the 1.6 knob is different than 1.8 but mine all you do is pull up and it comes off. No buttons, clips, screws, nothing.

Well mine is the same as yours but I have to yank it. 1st time I did it, it wouldn't come off so I got close to it to see if it had screws or anything because it wouldn't come off so I kept pulling and hit my nose so hard I thought I broke it(my nose). LMAO

isnt there a way to shift your car into neutral while the car is off? by using that release circular tab on the shifter? i think its supposed to be used in emergencies when you wanna move your car but cant get the engine to turn on?

and wait just to clarify what you said, you did it in drive and caroff?

In the video I showed how to remove it in neutral, which is the easiest way, but you can't turn the car off while its in neutral, so it'll be running the whole time you're painting it. Its easier for just swapping out the shifter (or doing touch-ups), but not practicle for painting the whole thing. I'd just take it out in drive, unless the shift lock tab does that. I've never used it before

Lmao, well at least you didn't break your nose. I too had a hard time pulling it off the first time but after that it comes off real easy.

Sorry I missed that post bthompson. The cupholder is held in with a couple screws from the bottom.

And I use krylon fusion its great on plastics and its supposed to resist fading and whatnot.

I lightly sanded it after taping off the faux leather on the sides.
