2008 Missing Driver's Side Carpet?

We bought a 2008 Versa S hatchback used. I didn't notice it at the time, but it appears to be missing carpet or something on the driver's side floor above where the steering wheel and pedals are. Does anyone know exactly what is supposed to be there and any idea how to order it and how hard it would be to install?

There is carpet below where the steering wheel goes through the floor, but above it looks just firewall insulation or something.

I'm going to try and post a picture, but it's not showing up in Preview for some reason so I don't know if will work.

Thanks.

OK, the picture isn't displaying in the post, but if you click on it then it seems to show it.

I have the 2016 sedan and I notice my weather tech floor mats at times would hit the steering shaft or get jammed behind or under the pedals so I found understand somene ripping it out. Maybe we got a hatch back owner to chime in?

You got to click on the placeholder for the pix.

Looks "normal" to me.
