Hello

I bought a 2016 versa SV and love it. Seems this car gets a bad rap on u-tube from auto critics. I have a hard time understanding this. This car is the quietest car in side compared to our forester,legacy2013, and mercury. The ride is comfortable and the performance I don't have a problem with it.I ease into it and before you know it your doing 60. I set cruse control to 65 and don't hear anything out of the motor and set at 70 plus it does wind up the rpm's on hills, but not a big problem. I bought this car not expecting much for the price, but got way more than I was expecting!.It's not going to take long to adjust to the cvt I really like it if not better than the geared trans. I've got 3300 miles on the car now and love every minute I drive it. I'm glad there is a site like this, enough rambling.

Glad to hear and welcome aboard.

There is something about a "square" engine and I think the critics are just looking at the bottom line. Sure the Fit makes more power, but its a few grand shy of a civic.

Welcome! I notice my friend's CVT is WAY quieter than my 5 speed, due to its ability to keep low RPMs until power is needed. My car has much more engine noise on the highway since they purposefully handicapped the final drive and gear ratios of the 5 speed to ensure it would not utterly destroy the EPA mileage ratings of the CVT versa and sentra. I am not too sore about it since it means we stick shifters get more acceleration.

CVTs economy cars get rather gutless once you cross 80 mph and try to accelerate. As things get warm they use a higher ratio to help lessen the load and reduce heat, but it leads to a more gutless feeling as the engine races to redline but little to no more acceleration is felt.

Im happy with the 5 speed gearing. I cant imagine having 6 gears to deal with.

With THIS shifter assembly, yeah another gear would be agonizing

But have you ever driven a honda car since about 2010 with their 6 speed? Effortless. Smooth. Crisp. Definitive.

I will survive, the versa shifter is adequate for the purpose intended. I just sometimes wish I had never known the smoothness of the CRZ!

The crz is gutless and 6th is still too low for me. I test drove one in 6th doing 35 mph no problems.

Now the 06 scion xa its shifter was like moving a stick around in a bucket of gravel.
