Yes those are integrated turn signals, just watched the press conference. Good observation.

Yup that's all this pretty much is. Nissan took a car they already had and made it available to us here. No extra research or development and more money for them.

Nissan has been swapping out alot of the cars coming with HR16DE's with the new H5ft engine. I hope they do that in the US. Alot of the cars it's rated at only 115hp but everyone during reviews is saying it feels so much stronger and livelier than the HR16. Also the H5ft comes in a factory tuned 130hp model.

This version note with a 130hp 1.2t would be a pretty sweet ride. I'm hoping this happens.

one could only hope, but then i'd be pretty pissed that they didnt offer it sooner...who knows though, with honda upping the new fits power to 130hp themselves, nissan may see an incentive in maybe bringing out a NISMO trim level for the Note and sticking that renault turbo 1.2 in it. the only catch would be that the h5ft is only certified for euro emissions and when it comes to emissions in the states i very much doubt that the h5ft can pass our very stringent emissions tests unless they choked the hell out of the engine to get it to pass smog tests and at that point it would be no better than the HR16, but on the flip side that would be easily remedied by a simple tune

the same vehicles using the h5ft often offer the mr16ddt as their top of the line engine. So if we can get the mr16ddt here in the states I think the h5ft wouldn't be an issue. A car that looks like it has some get up and go that actually has some get up and go. I would buy that in a heart beat Nissan.

I think it would be a good idea to have this engine in the note on nissans part but at the same time you know they are going to be looking at their bottom line when it comes to the cost of making the note and as far as I can tell they are very hesitant in investing any money into their economy cars so at this point I would venture to guess that we won't be seeing this engine anytime soon but like I said with the push by Honda to make the fit a more relevant car in their line up that just may be the thing to push nissan to invest more into the note stateside

adding this to this thread since we started talking about emissions. Seems the hr16de this year in other countries is rated at 93kw @ 5600rpm / 154N ∑ m @ 4000rpm.

This equates to roughly 124hp / 113 lb-ft of torque.

These are the latest numbers by nissan and highest I have seen. But alot of the other countries the hr16de puts out 116bhp in previous years. Wow emissions really screwed us with this engine I guess. I wonder what the differences are?

and thats one of the reasons i have been saying the HR16 has potential, it just has been choked to death for the US market...most likely the reason for the bump in power in other countries probably has to do with a higher flow catalytic converter and/or different tuning when it comes to the CVTCS system. kind of weird though that they are coming up with those numbers when the actual manufacturer of the HR16DE, which is Aichikikai Engines puts the max output of the engine at 86kw @ 6000RPM and 156Nm @ 4000-4400RPM

almost everyone had the hr16de at 86kw for the past couple of years. The HR16DE in this years models and cars soon to be released are stating 93kw. I can only think that link from aichikikai is just old and outdated. I remember looking at that same page from them a year or two ago.

Here is a pic of an HR16de with 93kw. I see one big difference, there might be more. I know of a few tuning companies that get up to 125bhp/ 93kw with tuning alone on the older HR's so I agree that the CVTCS being tweaked for more power is doable. All the companies mention adjusting the CVTCS. The engines coming with the 93kw stock are all twin CVTCS with dual injectors just like our current Versa and Note.
