Congrats! Some days I wish I had sprung for a Sentra, an Altima would be great. Got the other half to drive the Versa for the first time two days ago. A breeze was blowing pushing the car all over the road and she was going "what the heck?" and I said "cheap car + tiny wheels = mediocre road handling". I've got a bad squeak somewhere in my dash now too... shoulda coughed up a few thousand more for that sentra maybe...

Not sure the sentra is an upgrade or not. I know they are reliable and seen them with over 300 thousand miles still on the road.

Shame the altima isnt AWD, then again neither is the civic or accord. I think my next car maybe a suburoo.

On the other hand Ive read the maxima doesnt hold its value so you can get a v6 sedan cheap, but I must not live in one of those areas. :frown

So, hows the car? 0-60 45-70 and mpg? I understand with the new cvt it is more efficient and behaves more like a regular 4 speed and get over 40 mpg.

What I did not like about the rental car I had was the loosey goosey way it felt. To be a 2 liter 4 banger it seemed rather gutless. Many cases when I press the gas the engine speed dipped vs reved. Other times it revved to 5 grand and it lazy like went faster.

The rogue I drove was a lot better and it kicked ass in the 45-70 acceleration range.

Thx.

It has MUCH more power than the Versa at a 1.8. So smooth you're doing 90 before you even realize it, a cop caller deluxe. I'm used to cars being older and the various noises and vibrations speed limiting me to drive at sane speeds. The CVT is clearly set up to imitate a conventional 4 speed ATX, I had assumed it would be more like a true CVT, ergo, same rpm at many speeds, no, they fake the normal shifts and different gears of an ATX.

Thats how my versa is. Before i know it its doing 80. Former economy cars struggle to go past 50 mph. Hell, my sidekick will only do 70 floored.

Sounds great for a 1.8. Guess they downsized the engine? I swear I thought it was on par with the camry at 2.x liters. Of course the new camry is pushing 300 hp on a NA 4 banger and 41 mpg.

I can say the same for octane ratings as I used a higher one in my insight too. Sams clubs high octane wasnt always high. I settled with BP for being dead on their rated octane and mapco/east coast being a second.

Just think some cars actually have a higher output when a higher ethanol fuel is used. No, my versa doesnt like it either.
