I bought "Raven" in September 2014 brand new, with just 11 miles on the odometer. I was lucky to not have to finance the car, so that opened up the door for some experimentation on my end.

At first, she was mainly a commuter car for "A" to "B" method of transport to get back and forth from work or classes. But after a while, the car really started to grow on me. I fell in love with the gas mileage and reliability (non-CVT), and started to notice just how much potential these cars really have as I tinkered more and more.

Years later, the power hunger emerged. After seeing the activity in Malaysia and Thailand and the promise that the future of these cars holds, I knew I wanted to keep my Versa and go further with it...further than anyone has ever gone. But I knew I had a LOT of work to do...and the HR16DE wasn't cutting it. Even after years of researching, the parts available for the HR platform is stagnant...and I wasn't gonna mess with the plastic intake manifold.

I met one of my first Versa friends @dude baker in 2016, and found one of the last remaining copies of the J2 Engineering exhausts for the 2nd gen sedan. The more rare parts I got my hands on and threw into the car, and the mor friends I made along the way...the harder it was to part ways. There's no turning back now!

Almost 6 years later, and Raven is still kicking strong. A planned AWD drivetrain swap has been in the works (yes, you heard me right). I managed to finally locate a rear subframe, differential, CV axes, spindle knuckles, and driveshaft from a '93 Pulsar GTI-R. The SR20DET engine is still in the works, but one has already been located and the payments are being made. A Primera 20V or 16V VVL head us up next.

The story behind "Raven" is more verbose than this little "general info" snippet, and I hope to one day share it here on NissanVersaForums with you all. Thanks for being such a great community! Bob at left a legacy that I hope to continue from as time goes on.

HPS Performance ram air intake w/ K&N reusable/washable 100k mile conical dry filter, Injen throttle controller, Rostra 250-9504 cruise control (doesn't come installed on base models with the 5MT), NGK Iridium IX plugs & coils, VMS Racing 1L oil catch can (planned upgrade to AN fittings later, still using OEM hose clamps and rubber tubing for the time being), Minor UpRev tune (fuel parameters and management, hardly any HP gains), Mobil1 full-synthetic 5w-30 motor oil & filter. Planned upgrades include...yanking the entire HR16DE out and swapping in an SR20DET from a Pulsar GTI-R. Some of the above mods may remain afterward, though most won't. HR is going in my girl's car after it finally quits, gives us plenty of time to rebuild it and have a little fun seeing what it's capable of.
Aftermarket Sparco L777 steering wheel, NRG SRK-141H short hub w/ horn adapter, NRG real carbon fiber horn bezel w/ stainless steel hardware from Downstar, chrome dashboard vent accents, chrome door speaker accents, aftermarket NISMO leather w/ red stitching shift knob (5 speed), red & black nano-fabric front seat covers, all-weather NISSAN floor mats all around, WeatherTech all-weather trunk floor mat, LED dome light conversion, K-source 35" 5-panel rally style rearview mirror. Future plans include upgrading the stock seats to Cobra Suzuka Pro-fit race seats for passenger and driver's side, roll cage, fuel cell, and more.
DevSport ABS front wind splitter w/ winglets for 2011 CIvic (removed. Working on a custom model and chassis mounts), titanium 7" splitter rods (also removed for now), custom ABS mesh grille w/ black trim, blind spot concave mirrors (one on each side mirror. Planned upgrade to non-powered carbon mirrors in the future), shaved emblems/debadged (front and back), Infrared night vision CMOS rear back-up camera, chrome bumper deer whistles, Infrared CMOS night vision front parking/driving camera, Nissan Race Shop in-channel window rain guards, added OEM Nissan rear spoiler (without third brake light), rear roof wind diffusers/winglets (x8), rear roof/window spoiler (Crystal Medallon design from Mexico), custom carbon fiber "Nissan" license plate (front), 2x rear bumper diffuser panels/cutouts, shaved bottom of rear bumper for better air flow. Future plans include a custom rear diffuser and belly pan, over fenders or widebody (undecided), chassis mount or through-bumper swan neck spoiler, remove roof (during roll cage build) and replace with tinted Lexan, and more.
Pioneer AVH-X3700BHS 7" Double DIN in-dash CD/DVD/MP3/Bluetooth head unit w/ dual front and rear parking cameras, 4 Kicker DSC65 high performance 6.5" speakers in each door, MA Audio competition 1000W amplifier, PlanetAudio BBD12 12" subwoofer in 1,6L cu ft enclosure, Planet Audio 10-farad capacitor, 8-gauge 100A fused power wire, Hella Supertones high output horn kit. Future plans include upgraded 10.1" double DIN Diasata Android touchscreen radio (for use with Torque Pro).
Auxbeam S1 Series 50W LED H4 conversion, 6000K cool white (used properly shielded LEDs in my halogen housings until I can start on my Morimoto retrofit), full LED interior and exterior lighting conversion (all CREE and OSRAM LEDs), front & rear LED signal conversion w/ hyper flash resistors, dashboard T10 halogens upgraded to LED, 19" spot/flood 3000K yellow fog light LED light bar (bumper mounted), Morimoto XB-LED fog lights, LED turn signal/DRL fog light panels for Nissan Almera.
J2 Engineering cat back exhaust, muffler delete (J2 unit failed after a couple years), Grimmspeed polyurethane exhaust hangers, lithium greased hangers, high flow cat. OBX header for the 1,6L is next, if I can ever find one before I start on the engine swap (would keep it with the HR16DE for later use).
BC Racing BR series adjustable coilovers ("extreme low" build w/ Swift Springs), UltraRacing front 2-point strut bar, UR front lower brace, UR rear strut tower bar and rear frame brace, HardRace rear sway bar, front sway bar delete. Got a 1993 Pulsar GTI-R rear subframe and diff to throw on the rear when the time finally comes to get dirty.
Wheel and Tire
Konig Hypergram 17x9 Bronze, 235/40R17 Nankang NS-25 A/S Tires, changed from my previous setup of Konig Hypergram 17x8 Grey, Goodyear Eagle Sport A/S l225/45R17. 1320 Performance extended steel locking lug nuts (closed end), Nengun Performance NISMO official extended 60mm lug studs, all wheels/tires nitrogen filled and Hunter Elite road-force balanced.
