I was waiting in line to gas up yesterday at Costco and the guy behind me said my center brake light is acting funny. Checked it out when I got home and found that it would flash intermittently and sometimes would not turn on at all. Took it apart and researched the part number online and found that the MSRP of the replacement (a 4-LED module) was between $95-$105 depending on the seller. My local Nissan dealer was actually the highest at $110 and no discount!

Some sellers would discount them down to $70. But still $70 for what would normally be about a $2 bulb replacement in the olden days. WOW! That's progress!

Sorry just venting here. I'll probably put it back and just let it flash all it wants!

Yet another option is to remove malfunctioning LED module from the assembly, and insert any 12 V bulb inside, LED or no LED, and solder it or somehow attach to wires inside. Or just visit a nearest junk yard.
