Hey guys! I am a non-mechanic and frustrated. My daughter has 2008 Nissan Versa with brake light issues. She informed me that a friend informed her that her brake lights were out.

I checked out the car and the tail lights will turn on, but the brake lights do not respond. I replaced the tail lights and the stop lamp fuse. Problem is not resolved. The tail lights will turn on, but the brake lights remain unresponsive.
Can any one suggest a solution?

Thanks!

I'm not mechanic, just trying to help.

from experience I know the brake light bulbs use 2 filaments light bulbs.

Also make sure the filaments are not touching each other. sometimes there could be a bad one causing a chain reaction

does the upper 3rd brake light turn on when you push the brake pedal?

Good morning! Thanks for your response. This is a 2008 Nissan Versa Hatchback. The third brake is located in the hatch back door above the door window. I can not figure out how to access the light bulb. Can you help me?
it could be the brake light switch which is located on the back side of the brake pedal. the connecter between the pedal and switch may be broken causing the brake light to be inoperable.
Thanks for your response! I am finding out it may be the brake light switch. However, last night I turned the exterior lights to the car on and the high center mount brake did not come on. I trying to rule out everything, so in attempting to replace third brake light I can figure how to remove the light bulb. There is no access back of third brake light through hatchback door. Any suggestions, or links you can direct me to for assistance. Thank you! Your assistance is deeply appreciated!!
if none of the brake lights are working, even after replacing the Left and Right light bulbs, then it is the brake light switch as stated above by alonsorules8
last night I turned the exterior lights to the car on and the high center mount brake did not come on.
thanks for the info, the high center mount brake light is not suppost to come on unless the brake pedal is pressed down even if the exterior lights are on.

if there was at lease one brake light working, then it would not be the brake light switch
