I was parking my car and all of a sudden my automatic shifter became extremely loose. It wouldn’t go to park or reverse so I turned it off and parked on a street by pushing it.. Car started to roll back and only hand break worked. Now when I insert key, its on gear 1 and won’t start. I took off the panels from this post How-To: Fixing auto gear shift indicator did research and it looks like shift cable broke or bushings broke. I watched a video on how to replace bushings and ordered some. Does anyone know where I can find the cable in the assembly to replace bushings? Is the cable under the car or inside the gear assembly?

Last resort: is there any way I can start the car by manually pulling the cable so I can get it to a shop without having to get it towed? Thank you

Under the hood, on top of the transmission, you can disconnect the cable and move the range selector switch to park from there. You may even find your issue is at that end of the cable, but probably not.
