The speedometer on my 2011 Versa is reading a good 7 to 10 miles higher than it should. I took it for service and finally got the dealer to believe me. They contacted Nissan, who is supposedly looking into it. That was 6 weeks ago. Has anyone experienced anything similar to this? It's a rather annoying thing in a car I'm otherwise quite happy with.

Yes. My '11 has problems, too. Noticed that traffic was passing me, while the speedo was at the speed limit. Odometer was off, too....using mile markers. Brought it up at the first service, just got some ragtime. Was asked if I used a gps.

So, I plugged in and zeroed the Garmin, and plugged in the Scan Gauge II. ScanGauge will read the proper mph, coming from the obd 2 port. NOTE: my Versa is a 6 spd. base model

Did 2 runs, 1 for 900 miles, and 2nd for just over 1,000 mi. Odometer is 3.6 % high. speedo runs 3-4 mph high. Gave the results to the Svc Mgr of the dlr, we are going out sometime this week with a 'gizmo' that he has, probably something that will read the obd.

The biggest problem to me is that at 3.6 %, the car will show 36K mi, when it only has 34.5 =/-. Warrantee will end quicker.

In my state there is a lemon law, 3 strikes and they own the car. Hope I don't have to go there, I like my car. In E. Mass, there are no more sticks available. (My wife picked up her Versa yesterday, salesman told me the story, he can't get any. Also he got an intro on the '12 Versa sedan). I did not see the new sedan.

Will follow up after my ride w/ the Svc Mgr.

There is no base model 6spd. The base model is 5spd so you must have a 1.8 engine. Base is 1.6 liter. This might be relevant as the actual base model or 1.6 model may have different results.

I recently took a 300 miles trip and notice that my miles driven were off from the mile markers. If I recall correctly I was at mile marker 166 but my odo said it had traveled 168.xx miles. They were were in unison at the beginning of the highway but off by 2+ miles by the time I got onto a different road. While not as big difference as Bob in MA it's still a difference.

Mine is the 1.6 automatic. I'm definitely coming in like 8mph high at 70mph. I hadn't even considered that this would mess up the odometer as well. I need to check that.

I don't know how to zero my garmin. Both my Nissans are currently within 1km/h of the garmin. How accurate are the gps based systems?

My first post was not specific, I have a '11 Versa HB 1.8 S w/ 6 spd manual.

08versailles: I don't have the garmin in front of me, but I think the lower right corner icon brings up a different screen, just shows speed, distance, compass etc. and other data. Somewhere on the screen there is a place to 'reset' . Thats what I meant by 'zeroing'.

Sorry I can't be more specific, not sure of the model. Had it a while.

Update: Speedometer assembly was changed. The service mgr plugged into the OBD with a device he called a 'consult'. We took a ride and he verified what I claimed, the speedo was reading slow. I picked up the car last night, this weekend I will verify myself if the problem is fixed.

As an aside, we agreed on the number of miles that the car actually had. Based on the error, and the replacement was programmed for the proper mileage.

Good to hear that Nissan took care of Bob in MA. Sounds like you had a dealer that was interested in working with you to solve the problem. Hope you are doing OK with Irene and keeping the V high and dry. Looks like it is getting close to MA.

Waiting to hear an update from Hedgehog000 on his issue. Hopefully you have the same success in getting the problem resolved as Bob in MA did.

2011 Speedometer off

I have a '11 Versa HB 1.8 w/ 6 spd manual.

I just got my Versa back from the dealer, after they replaced the Speedometer cluster to fix the speedometer from reading the incorrect speed. My speedometer was showing +5 mph according to my GPS. It now show +2 to +3 mph above what I'm going now. I contacted Nissan and there reply was:

Thank you for contacting Nissan North America, Inc. regarding your concern with your 2011 Versa. We apologize for any inconvenience this situation may have caused you.

Nissan relies on its authorized dealers to provide technical support to our valued customers. Please contact or visit your local Nissan dealer, as they are in the best position to address your vehicle concerns.

It does not look like they are going to do anything to correct this issue.
