That really sucks... I think if you had some of the data acquisition equipment that plugs into your OBD II socket you may have been able to prove it but at this point I doubt it... =/ good luck I hope someone has a better answer for you =/
2011 Versa -- Black box/Data recorder?
Hey guys, I'm just wondering if you know if the 2011 Versa hatchback has a black box or data recorder or something like that.
I got pulled over the other day, and I think the cop was looking for a stolen car, because the first thing he asked me was, if it was my car. He ticketed me for 75 in a 55 zone, even though I had cruise control on, and he saw the green Cruise light on the dash. And... he ticketed me anyway. So I'm just wondering if there's a box that I can pull data from that will prove I was doing 55.
Does anybody here know anything about that?

i got ticketed doing 86 in a 65 and i NEVER go that fast...my husband jokes that i drive like a grandma...i like that it was conveniently 1 mph over to give me more points 
I don't think so, at least in the sense that you mean it. I think those types of things only record the few seconds before an impact, say if the airbag is deployed kind of thing.
Did he give you a ticket from radar/lazar or clocked you (following behind)? If it was radar/lazar i would of asked to see it displayed on the radar/lazar display.
Now that I've owned my Versa for nearly 5 months, one criticism I have is the speedo display. It's difficult to judge one's speed when the display pattern goes from 0 - 20 - 40 - 60 - etc. If you're driving through a municipality and their posted speed is 25 or 45 and one is used to putting the needle in the middle of the displayed numbers, one could easily speed if not paying attention. Not that I am aware of and that number seems way off, like he may have tagged someone else with the gun. I was afraid there wouldn't be anything to help me. But I'm also relieved, because I have sped in the past. I think everybody does at one point. I worried that opening that door would lead to other charges, but I don't think it works that way. As long as I could show that at that time, I was not speeding, I would be okay.
I guess my only recourse is getting it reduced. Maybe I can find a smartphone app that uses GPS to track and log my speed. I wonder if that would hold up in court.
I don't drive like a grandma by any means, but I do drive the speed limit, for the most part. I use cruise control, not only to stay at/under the speed limit, but also to conserve fuel. It just makes sense. And mathematically, speeding doesn't help unless you go way over for an extended period of time. I work about 26 miles from home, and with all the stops, I could maybe shave 2 minutes off the driving time by speeding. My time isn't worth what a speeding ticket would cost me.
And no, he didn't clock me with anything. He was coming from the other way, and even if he had a radar gun that could subtract his speed from mine (which would be 100+ due to the difference, using his vehicle as the reference point), he used the words "it looked like" I was going "about 75 or 80". He didn't know. And his first question was not about my speed, but whether I own the vehicle. I think he was fishing for something.

I would take that to court. All you need to do is create reasonable doubt, and if it "looked like" you were going 75, but actually weren't, thats a B.S. charge.
Did he write on the ticket that it was just what it looked like? I would ask for full disclosure on the ticket then take it to court.

I would recommend V for Veresetta's comment "I'd try to dispute it regardless" Suggest that you review the RPM level that would get you into the 75-80 mph zone. I try to keep my RPM levels below 2000 rmps to squeeze out the mpg. Not sure what RPM level you would see at 75-80 mph but you could use that argumentThanks for the replies.

I would so fight that if he can't prove with radar your speed theres no case there you should win at least in my state you would.
That would be a way of doing it I'm sure.
