I went back through the thread and noticed that you said the problems started after you got a new battery in it. I have to wonder if there wasn't a voltage spike when the new battery was hooked up that might have caused an issue with the PCM. Just doing some brainstorming, so don't put too much stock into my hypothesis.

So here's the latest. Took it to Nissan who said that the Toque Convertor is getting locked and the fix is a new Transmission. They were vague on what they actually did to come that conclusion other than the mechanic determined this. They offerred no paperwork, or any reports. So I took it to transmission garage who did a free diagnosis. They hooked it up and found a stored code in the history of P1588 (G Sensor Circuit Range Performance). They gave me reports of before and after calibration which showed the G Sensor voltage moved from (before) min 2.41 to max of 2.61 and (after) of min 2.53 to max 2.55. The G Sensor slop % was (before) - 4.29 to max + 4.21. The (after) numbers were min 0.55 to max 1.66. They said that the G sensor might need replaced and they will quote it and get back to me. When I call Nissan, they don't know what a G sensor is? So I am puzzled. I have the Dealer saying need new Transmission and a transmission garage saying replace G sensor? Any thoughts anyone?

Hi Windsor, Any further updates on this issue? I have a 2012 1.6 and I am experiencing the same issues.... For me, this only happens when the car is cold, if I start it and let it idle for 5 - 10 mins start driving then it rides perfectly fine. Thanks!

I tried using my resources to find more information for you, and the diagnostic flowchart for the P1588 code does mention a G sensor underneath the center console, so I wonder if it's not an accelerometer that may also be listed as the yaw rate sensor. Unfortunately parts catalogs and service manuals don't always line up. I'd have a hard time seeing how that sensor would impact the transmission, though.

I wouldn't chase the g sensor. If it stalls when you take it out of park, I would believe the torque converter 100%. If you had a scan tool that could communicate with the transmission you may be able to see it happening in the data, but so far my money is on the TC.

Does it happen constantly?

Thank god, i finally got the problem solved. The harness had an exposed wire and it was touching the body of the vehicle. The electrician taped the exposed wire and the car now works fine. U need to check the harness in the areas where they use tie straps to fasten the harness as this was the area where mines was exposed on the inner side where the harness was straped.

Those bulletins probably only apply if there are no driveability issues, which you have. Search for a local diagnostic tech that works mobile or bring it to the dealer. I'd put the old MAF back in it or they might want to replace the cheap one with a factory one, which probably still won't fix it, but when a car comes in with a bunch of new parts, I dont want to wonder if the new stuff is bad too.

Have owned car from new and now has 130K miles. Changed spark plugs & fuel pump at 126K miles; changed fan belt and battery at 130K miles. Had throttle body cleaned out last week and Sea Foam applied. All work done at local mechanic (not Nissan). Car starts perfect every morning and idles great in Park or Neutral (RPM's of 1000-1500). When I put it it into Drive or Reverse however the RPM's drop and the car stalls within 1-2 seconds. No check engine light and had it checked and No Check Engine codes found. It will start up straight away then I have to keep the revs up and eventually after 5-10mins it works in Drive or Reverse but feels like it will stall again. I can nurse it to get onto the freeway them it drives perfectly. When coming off freeway exit, it has stalled a couple of times at the Stop sign. During the day, it seems to start and drive fine. Any ideas what else to try? Called Nissan but another $175 for them to diagnose; then whatever they will charge to actually fix whatever the root cause is; however, I have already spent $2K since 126K miles. Is there something about the throttle having to re-learn driving? Any help or guidance appreciated
HI, had similar problem with 2013 Nissan Versa. Turns out Nissan Versa has an issue with the reverse light in the tail light assembly corrodes and causes the engine to shut down on acceleration. In park it revs fine. I found this out the hard way. I installed led reverse lamps in the tail lights assembly. I did not see any corrosion but after replacing the bulbs, the car rev'd fine in park and when put in drive shutdown. So I went online and read that the resistance in the bulb directly affects the trans and engine believe it or not. I installed the regular bulbs and the car never had an issue again. I talked to a mechanic at the dealership and he knew about it. That's my experience. Yours may be different but I hope this helps someone. Peace

That's interesting. I had put LED reverse bulbs in my 2015 before I sold it and I remember it had a rough idle in gear that would go away when it was in park. I never would have thought the two would be related. I recently reacquired the car and will definitely check that out.
