2012 Versa cord for iphone in car (want a longer one)

I don't exactly know where to post this or even what it's called technically but the cord in my wifes 2012 versa that she plugs her iphone into that goes down by the hand brake area, it has this specific interface thing there, so you need that cord to make that work, but the cord itself is a hair short she says, I was wondering does anyone know if they make a longer one or if there is some sort of extension for it?

I wish they just had a normal usb port for it but with that funky interface thing on the end we can't just get a different cord for it that I know of.

I haven't sat in the car and messed with it but do others think this cord is too short too?

there are quite a few, can you explain to us in more detail what she means by "it's a hair short" ?? like the cord itself doesn't reach to where she needs it? or the cord doesnt fit the plug?

and they do make normal usb ports that fit that plug in your car
take a look at your local Best Buy, i've done a search for you already on their web site and im sure you'll find what you need here

hope this helps
I believe that FTLOSM is referring to the ipod/iphone specific interface located next to the power plug and not the power plug itself. I couldn't find a suitable photo online, I may take one and post it. Some of the trims have this as an ipod interface, and some have a usb interface there. The manual references both, and with the usb interface, it says you can insert a usb flash drive full of .mp3's and they will play through your stereo.

I also have the ipod/iphone interface but would rather have the usb interface! Someday I will look into swapping it out- if anyone knows if this is possible let us know!
if one of you guys can post up a picture of this I would def. like to see what it is you are referring to.

lol well that's something i've never seen... but then again you do have a 2012

the only thing that I could find was this extension cable, but i dont know how reliable it is.
http://www.amazon.com/CableJive-Dock-Extender-Cable-Black/dp/B001ERLJJY

are there writing or symbols on the end of your cable that plugs into your versa? Im curious to find out what that is and if there are specific cables that are longer.
btw did that cable come with the car? if so maybe even call up your dealership and ask them if they sell longer cables, may help! :p

and i searched in the owners manual and the sedan is the only one that has the option for the aux in jack in the center console near the parking brake. it shows that it should be aux with the 3.5mm audio jack and USB but nothing shown or said about that other connection :S weird..

this shows what I was referring to in my last few sentences on page 163 in the PDF or section 4-37 http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/refgh0v/og/Versa/2012-Nissan-Versa-Sedan.pdf

The cable you linked to seems like it would be ideal for the OP. The cable in the photo did come with the car. I think they made it short because there is a little slot beside the hand brake where you can keep your music player.

That owners manual does have info on the ipod interface, starting on 4-39 on the right side of the page. I guess the difference is, those with Navigation systems get the USB and Aux plugs, and those without the Navigation system (like me) get the ipod interface.
I'm betting other nissan's use the same cord in various lengths. I'd search ebay. I did a quick search and found plenty of cords that look exactly like yours but longer.
I'd like to find a longer cord as well. I did order an iPod dock extension cable. I really really don't know why they didn't just put in a USB port. Seems to me that it'd have been cheaper than utilizing a proprietary port and cable.

Just seems silly to me. *shrug*

And what if I move to Android. The whole thing becomes useless. Where as a USB port would at least CHARGE an android phone.
Also, does anyone know what that AUX port is called "technically" and if there is a way to convert/adapt it to a standard USB port.

I'm guessing you have the 2012 Sedan? I've not seen an Ipod interface in that location on the V's before, they are usually a small connector in the storage unit above the headunit.
This is probably a dumb question, but I will ask anyway.

Last month I traded in my 2010 Versa for a 2012 Versa SV. My car has the ipod interface set up that was shown in the thread previously, and someone mentioned the cord that came with the car was too short. I honestly didn't know until today, after some researching, that there was a cord that fit there. Was my car supposed to come with one of these cords? If so, where was it supposed to be located? I looked in the glove box and there was nothing.

It probably looks like this: Amazon.com: Nissan Infinity iPod iPhone iPad Interface Cable 284H2-ZT50A Cube / Maxima / Murano / Pathfinder / Sentra / Titan / Versa / Xterra / G35 / G37 / M37 / M56 / EX35 / FX35 / FX50 / QX56 / Adapter Lead Cord Wire Line Out Aux: Computers & Accessories

For the OP, something like this might help: Amazon.com: Dock Connector Extender Extension Cable for Apple iPad iPhone iPod (Black): Electronics

And just a side note, my mom's 2012 Rogue has a usb port, that interfaces with the Ipod, no idea why they didn't just use that system. Proprietary's a bitch!
