Either this forum is slacking or I am just blind but a new Versa has been revealed and I'm shocked we don't have a post of it yet.

Usual Nissan applies meaning manual tranny in base model only, CVT in all else. This is basically the same car as the newer nissan note available in japan. I believe they have a smaller engine though. We get the revised 1.6 HR16 found in the newer Versa sedan. Not a bad thing as mpg's are pretty good and so far since it's introduction in 2009 here in the states it seems pretty reliable. I am currently at 117k miles (highest mile HR in USA?) and have had not a single engine issue.

I like: the price starting at $13,999 - the fact it's a hatchback - not a totally different model for North American market

I don't like: The looks as it is very bland - interior as it looks too cheap - only manual tranny on base model and only 5spd

Looking forward to: a sport package and some nut to do a crazy engine swap LOL

From the angle of the picture provided, it seems a bit shorter than the 07-11 HB. My biggest dislike is the headlights, it's just odd looking. I do like that they kept some of the same visual queues as the older HBs

Edited: The tail light is also "odd" looking and I agree with you on the interior looking "cheap" but I do like the a/c control center
Like the interior (to all of you saying it looks cheap, it still looks better than the interior in the rest of our Versas, which also looks pretty cheap), don't like the rear end, kind of like the front. Kind of disappointed they changed it so drastically.
Next car needs no introduction, the Honda Fit.......oops sorry, the Nissan Note.

I need to see the inside more I guess. True our current interiors are just as bad if not worse.

Yup very similar to the Fit. Wonder why we didn't get the new Tiida here? Wonder if nissan is planning on releasing that here as sort of a sentra wagon. I doubt it though.

This is autech. They did some good things with previous nissan models.

another nissan customized note

I really like that last one. If it were one color and not all the graphics I think it would look pretty damn good.

Not bad, I wouldn't trade mine for it but I'd drive one. Just wish they had manual trannies available in the higher end models. I like the Autech version.

Were there any specifications on the interior cubic inches of available space? Would like to compare the new spec to the 09-12 models HB. I would like to see one and measure the HB opening and do a comparison.

all that info is on the nissan micro site I linked above
I like but I would have to drive it and see what it feels like and what kind of MPG it gets

Thanks Rob... looks like the new 2014 HB is 6.5 inches shorter. Same wheel base and width of car. They don't post the interior space but listed as TBD ( to be determined. ) The Drag coefficient (Cd) goes from .31 to .308 Not sure what that really does for you. Gas tank goes from 13.2 gal to 10.8 gal
Sorry I didn't realize it said TBD to everything. Alot of sites online have dimensions on space. Supposedly it's bigger then a fit.

The more I see this car the more I'm liking it for some reason. Looking forward to seeing one in person.
Hello Rob:
I feel the same way. Based on the length of the car being shorter by 6.5" and maintaining the same wheel base, I think they are shaving off some contouring to the cargo area and decreasing the overall weight by about 250 pounds which is always a good thing for mileage numbers. The 1.6l and CVT combination is going to make this a winner. I hope to take a test drive when it becomes available late summer I hope!!
on a plus note, the SL will have heated seats!
I wish the manual would be available in the plus models, and that they would keep the 1.8. like noted before I would love to see if they come out with a sports package. They also have a Nismo Juke. But if I were to buy a different V it wouldn't be this one, I'm not really in love with the whole 1.6 L manual base model as an only option for now. Even though I'm still excited to see the vehicle and want to see where it goes...hope things change my mind!

If the revised 1.6 turns out to be a lemon I will be upset. If it's as reliable as the old one I say good riddance to the MR18 engine.

I too hate the fact we get stuck with the CVT if you want a higher package. Nissan should really make it the buyers choice. Make the people wanting 5spd SL's just order one and wait for delivery.

I don't know if there will be a nismo package or sport but considering nismo models are coming out and even the new sentra gets an SR package all signs point to yes in my mind.

I'll take this in a heart beat

What's all changing in the revised 1.6?
The new versa sedan has the revised hr. Only thing I know of is the new dual injectors. Also the intake manifold looks different.
I just hope for the day they put MR16DDTs in if that's possible, an extra 65-75 hp would have me a Nissan customer for life! Perhaps 2016, but by then maybe this supercharger might be out, either way the future is looking good :thumb2:
