2015 S with 85k, manual transmission.

There is a slight click when engaging / disengaging drive from the front left wheel. I can kind of force this to happen if the car is in gear, on a level surface, and I push it forward and back.

The same if I raise the front left on a jack and turn the wheel wheel forward and back.

Anyone know of this?

Seems like the splines having some play from the CV axle could explain this. The transmission does not seem to be an issue, as it's in all gears. Not a bearing issue. CV boots are fine.

Ideas? Known issue?

You say not a bearing issue. Have you tried lifting the wheel up and down when you have it off the ground (see if there is play in the bearings). You can usually feel the play. Wheel bearings are a known issue on the Versa

I did not check this -- its an engagement issue, either on when you feel the transmission lose its need to push the wheel to accelerate (slight deceleration), or when acceleratiing. There was an interesting 300z Google match with similar symptoms from a Google search -- and likely result was the splines needing greasing or the knuckle plate zone having some weird play.

Just seems a little strange - a slight knocking noise, perfectly "round" in the engagement process, that would seem to imply not being a bearing type related noise. eg, coasting in neutral and braking would have no way of having the same noises.
