Hi everyone I'm new to this forum and pretty new to the Nissan Versa world.
This is my girlfriend's car and it just started acting up at the 100k mile mark.

She just called to inform me that her Versa started shifting funny, the RPM's were all over the place. I haven't had a chance to see or feel the car myself but I'm going to run some codes immediately when she gets back and will update this post.

Has anyone had similar issues with this model?
I heard the 2014 model was trash in regards to the CVT tranny. But they improved it in the following year. This is the first issue she's had with it.

All required maintenance has been done including transmission fluid being flushed by the dealer less then 10k miles ago.

I have a 2012 versa sedan, drive like a little old lady, and with less than 20000 miles on the car and the CVT went south. The check engine light went on, brought it to the dealer, and they diagnosed it as the "central control valve" in the transmission. The car was still under the powertrain warranty, and the dealer called Nissan for authorization to make the repair. They were instructed not to make the repair, but change out the entire tranny for a "new" one. It seems that Nissan has so many problems with the CVTS that they have plenty of them in the pipeline to exchange when a tranny goes bad. To show you how much confidence Nissan has in the CVT tranny, they give you a 12 month, 12000 mile extension to your powertrain warranty, and the same applies if you pay the $4000 out of pocket. Not much confidence in my opinion.

Vehicle ended up breaking down temporarily. Scanned the codes when she got back from work and this is what we found. Can anyone offer some assistance? Bringing to the dealer tomorrow, but I cant even check the tranny fluid level myself it seems like.

P285A - Clutch 'B' Pressure Disengagement Performance

My thoughts right now are replacing the valve body myself at a local DIY shop, and then selling the car. Thoughts?

If you take it to the dealer, they can diagnose it in about 10 minutes. As I mentioned in an earlier post, my cvt went south under warranty, but instead of the dealer just making the repair, Nissan instructed the dealer to change out the entire transmission with a "new"" one. If I was out of warranty, the out of pocket cost would have been somewhere around $3000-4000. I have looked at a few videos on Youtube where a guy takes apart a CVT tranny from a Rogue, and it is not a pretty sight. This guy has more tools than the average dealership, and the work involved to open up the case, and disassemble the tranny is BEYOND the ability of most individuals without specialized tools and analytical devices. Trans fluid changed WAAAAAAYY too late there if I read that right. No matter, ALL Nissan CVT are still crap and 'nothing' has been cured as the error is in the major design and implementation. They are still failing and now in the '18 models.

Change all the VB you want there, the issues are typically not in that.

Like said Nissan changes trans only, they do not have smart enough repair people in the dealerships to replace parts that likely still do not fix the transmissions. One needs like 6 college educations now (think of the cost!) to be intelligent enough to diagnose ATX to begin with. The bigger move makes them much more money and solves the problem (you hope) and why they do it.

Take the pic shown in the youtube link there, stupid help. You do NOT let any kind of an impact tool anywhere NEAR a VB, that's utter madness. Even loosening the bolts too much and too quick in localized areas can warp the VB main metering plates. Where the hydro leaks often come from. Service manuals call it out all over the place.
