Hi all,

I recently got the 2016 versa note w/ the Bluetooth streaming and backup camera. I realized quickly that this unit doesn’t have navigation and would like to upgrade to a unit that does have one. I found online there’s a factory versa note that came w/ the navigation system installed so the prior owner of my vehicle chose not to get that package. I was thinking about buying that radio to replace my own and was wondering is that’s possible? Would it be a simple plugnplay or would there be more steps? Also are there any radios you guys would recommend for this model? I was thinking about the Sony ax-1000 since it has carplay but I’m not sure if my backup camera would work.

Forgive me if this is a repost I searched this site for a while before I decided to register.

Thanks in advance.

Honestly I think you would be better off to just get a Garmin. The radio you get with the Nav system isn't any better than the one you have and you would be stuck getting updates from Nissan.

If you rent cars you just carry the Garmin with you and don't pay the extra charge for the Nav system.

I'd think this would require dealer intervention or specialized equipment to communicate with the BCM to swap a factory nav system from one versa to another versa.

You could, BUT, it would take alot of work to do it.
There are differences in the secondary connector. The display unit, which you have, has a 30 pin, the nav unit has a 24.
There are also differences in the aux/usb connectors.

Thank you all for your replies. I won’t go that route then. Anyone have any recommendations for a replacement that would fit reasonably well? Im only looking for CarPlay and a way to connect the back-up camera.

Thanks again

Hi, it can be done. You will need consult 3 plus programming tool a laptop with software. The harness to the stereo MIGHT be different, but it might be the same. I've had a lot of luck swapping things from other Nissan vehicles that weren't meant to be swapped, I spent hours learning the wiring diagrams only to find out little to no modifications were necessary. A lot more things are plug and play than people think and even if it's not you can pick up a wirimg diagram for the two vehicles, doner and your own and figure it out.
You can do anything! Don't let naysayers get you down man. The dealership told me putting in a maxima steering wheel would wreck my bcm but I did it anyway because I had already bought it and believed in myself. Also put in the note SL speedometer with the same miles and both were plug and play.

Good luck friend

I put an avh2100NEX Pioneer stereo system in, cool thing about it is it has an HDMI input on the back. So I hooked up a mirascreen tv dongle to it so that I can cast the screen on my phone onto the stereo screen, to use google maps etc, but also have the ability now to stream netflix, Hulu, YouTube, or anything else to the screen through my phone. Mirror cast is not the same but will allow google map services and pandora.
