most cars i've owned just can't keep a/c cool with temps that high,
especially if in stop-and-go traffic.
Only exceptions were my minivans, which probably were higher capacity systems,
and my Altima does pretty well too
edit: also the versa/tiida is a smallish car with LOTS of window, thus lots of sun heating up the occupants :p

Seems it's working normal. Unit just can't handle the heat.

i have a dark window tint
1) Fill gas.
2) Set to recirculate inside air, or it will never get cold.
3) Click the a/c button, dont run the fan :p

@08versailles - 42 degrees C here today.
Should touch 45 deg C by end of month. :p
i have just changed the compressor and filled up 2 days ago

Oh it can be this..

Check if the air that comes out is very cold near the vent.
However it doesnt blow far.
This is a common issue caused by damaged/worn/torn cabin filter (must be changed every 2 years).

This blocks the airflow, so even if the airflow is cold, there is not enough circulation inside to keep the car cool.

The only reason i can think of car being cool in night is *lower temperatures*.

Additionally, i have seen car a/c's to perform better in humid weather, and WORST in dry weather (dry heat).

Many guesses here, hope something gives a solution.

An A/C system running at its best can only bring the temperature down by about 15*F. If the car isn't moving you won't get that. As 08v said, with all that glass you have a high heat gain and the A/C in our cars just isn't big enough to keep up with that.
