Has the noise been getting louder? How recent has this happened?
ABS self check on '11 V
Is anyone having a problem with the noisy as hell self check from the ABS pump. When the car gets up to 15 mph the pump self checks, and boy of boy is it noisy as hell. They tell me it is a known issue, and Nissan intends to do nothing about it.
For a new vehicle to make that kind of noise in my book is unacceptable.
And what moron decided to soild mount a pump to the body w/o isolating it.
If Nissan isnt going to do anything about this, I need to find a cure.
Prefer to get enough people to complain to Nissan about it.

I've driven many cars into and out of the tire shop and heard the ABS self check go off. Nothing too loud. Nothing that feels abnormal. Maybe a recording to hear what yours is like?
Its not real loud, reminds me of something wrapped around the half shaft, slapping the body or frame.When it does self check it last maybe 10-15 seconds. to me regardless there should not be any noise/vibration from the pump. Had many other cars/trucks w ABS and never had this problem.

sudden braking by electrically preventing wheel lockup. Maneuverability is also improved for avoiding obstacles during emergency braking.
• If the electrical system malfunctions, the Fail-Safe function is activated, the ABS becomes inoperative and
the ABS warning lamp turns on.
• The electrical system can be diagnosed using CONSULT-III.
• During ABS operation, the brake pedal may vibrate lightly and a mechanical noise may be heard. This is
normal.
• Just after starting the vehicle, the brake pedal may vibrate or motor operating noises may be heard from the
engine compartment. This is normal due to the self check operation.
• Stopping distance may be longer than that of vehicles without ABS when vehicle drives on rough, gravel, or
snow-covered (fresh, deep snow) roads.

They should have doen a much better job isolating the noise. Not acceptable in a 16-18k car.:smilejap:From the FSM:

Well the price of the car shouldn't reflect the fact that it makes noises when the ABS self check goes off. Lots of cars do it no matter the price and people have spoken about it. I'm sure the manufacturer intended it to make the noise noticeable just so you know its working! LOL
Mine is one single click. While It is louder then any car I have ever driven it still doesn't sound like described above.
Oooohhh so THAT'S the noise i heard, it does that when u reach 15 mph, and it also locks the doors at that speed, i hear it too, its on the passenger side, and it sounds like something its trampling in there, its not too loud tho, but now i know what that sound was lol
