I picked up a map light assembly for my 2012 Versa from mynissanparts.com for $9.00. The mounting hole is already underneath the headliner. It's completely surrounded by metal. You should be able to feel it. As long as you get your knife somewhere in the middle, you can't go wrong cutting it. Just cut until you get to the metal. Unfortunately, I missed on my first try because I didn't measure. I started cutting on the wrong side of the hole

Here is a picture so you won't.
The measurement was taken by clipping the end of the tape measure to the edge of the headliner and curling it around. It only snapped out for the picture.
I was hoping to find a wiring harness all ready to go in there, but it's empty. I can't even find the wires that go to the room lamp. My plan is to use a hanger to route the wires from the room lamp to the map lamp hole.
Does anybody have any ideas for dealing with that ugly scar in my headliner where I cut in the wrong place???
