I'm not sure what your purpose is for going with larger tires. Your front end is tuned to work with the tire size you currently have on your car. You may likely run into rubbing issues especially when trying to make a turn along with alignment issues. Versas are Point A to Point B cars and nothing more.

 

Hi, Thank you for your inputs. I would like to use wider tires as I already felt the rear of the car slipped during a curve on a wet road. A wider tire gives more traction and may help prevent the slip. Having the 205 size has an 8.1" width which is acceptable but Nissan is concern on the increase of diameter of 2% or half an inch of the 205 size. Nissan suggested to upgrade to 205/55r16 which is more costly and does not improve gas mileage as it is less that 25 inch diameter.
Current tire I'm using is a Bridgestone Ecopia EP150.

 

Maybe try to search for tires with better wet traction?

 

Properly inflated tires and not carrying a lot of "stuff" in your trunk are 2 of the best ways to maximize gas mileage along with not being a lead foot on the accelerator.

 

The OP's main concern is with the car slipped during a curve on a wet road.
