Amazin' V: I'm On My Way To 40 MPG...!!!

11237 Views 79 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  JohnLocke
I got 37 mpg on my 8th tank, doing 80% highway. I'm on my 10th tank with only 3300 miles on the OD. Once I'm at around 10K, I can see my V getting 40+ mpg easily...!!! And that's IF my engine is fully broken in by then... my old car started getting its best fuel economy at 25K.

- neutral to stoplights, stop signs, and exit ramps
- turn on car, drive immediately
- 65 on the highway, 70 max

Versa engine is amazingly frugal.

Rob, out of curiousity, how many miles are you usually at by the same place?
ILUV,

It's a FACT that brand name gas is better for fuel economy... I've bought gas from "mom and pop" stations before and they ALWAYS yield much lower fuel figures. I stick with HESS (right near my house) or MOBIL (close to my house). But I've also had excellent luck with Shell, Phillips 66, Sunoco, etc.. If you check my Fuelly, it's mostly HESS and MOBIL. And I also try not to fill up until 30+ miles after the E light comes on. Oh, and I just broke my best record...

What's 465 kms in US miles? lol
Oh, you're in Park. Nevermind. Hehe.
ILUV,

You could be on your way to a 350-375 tank. :D
Hehehehehehehe....

Just got back from camping in the White Mountains!

I beat my last tank!!! Last tank was 38.6 and this tank was 38.7. Hehehe.

I got up to 470 miles and needed 12.15 gallons to fill up. I could have safely gotten up to 500 miles per tank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:D

40 mpg AND 500 mpt (miles per tank) are BOTH ENTIRELY ACHIEVABLE on my Versa...!!!

@ Rob,

Yes, I've got the 1.8.

I'm @ 5200 miles . . . once I hit 15,000 or 20,000, my engine should be FULLY BROKEN IN. I think by then I should be able to hit 45 mpg unless my fuel economy has already peaked, which I doubt.

My brother's xA started getting outrageous fuel economy at around 30K. Before that, he was getting 38-40... after 30K, he was getting 45-48. On his best tank, he got 527 using 10.02 gallons. xA's fuel tank is 10.8 gallons. Identical driver to me: 65 highway MAX, bi-weekly tire pressure checks, coast to stoplights/off ramps, etc..
I'm changing my oil again at 8000 (about 3800 from the first time) and then from there it'll be every 5000 miles that I do it. MOBIL 1 FTW!
39.1
