I researched the installation of the Factory Fog Light Kit PN 999L1-4Z000 for a Versa Note and it appears to be fairly straight forward although I have one question.

Does the body computer need to be reprogrammed to allow the proper operation of the fog lamps once the installation is complete? The installation instructions PDF does not mention it but it shows a schematic that the wiring goes through the body computer module.

A while ago I installed a similar kit on my Jeep and that required a dealer reprogram to enable the fog lamps to function.

On my 2009 Versa S I only had to replace the turn signal/light switch (stalk) that had the fog light position on it. The body computer recognized the new light switch and properly operated the fog lights without any dealer programming. The original turn signal/light switch did not have a fog light position.

Thanks Frank, that's good news to me and it answered my question.

The Fog Lamp kit I mentioned includes a new turn signal/light/wiper switch assembly that adds the fog lamp switch. I guess I can now go ahead and order the kit.

Thanks again!

My Versa S was not a base model so it was pre-wired for fog lights and came with the fog light relay in the power module.

Can you see the pre wired fog light cable connectors in the bottom of the engine compartment behind the bumper?

The packaging on the Note is very tight as it has active grille shutters just below the bumper line, so I cannot see anything without taking things apart. I have an SV model so I'm 95% sure the car is prewired (I hope). The Nissan installation instructions says the front grille has to be removed to access the fog lamp connector which is taped to the main harness. The kit also includes a wiring harness to extend the wires to reach both fog lamps.

I think I'll just assume it is there and address the issue later if I cannot find it. I don't think I'd like to tear apart the grille twice. Thanks for the reminder though.

I got busy with other things so I was not able to order the fog lamp kit yet however, I saw it being sold for less than $200 + shipping at nissannewparts.com which is actually a Nissan dealer in Texas.

According to this instructions:
http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/asistgc_1/diskdocs/1/U/A/1UA14.PDF
the kit (with the part number I noted earlier) contains everything needed to install.

I'll let you know if I finally get to it!

Thank You Jas:
I just printed out the installation sheets and am going to look at how to remove the clips on the front. I've done this on a 2011 MR18 and it was very easy, but there was more room to work in.
Thanks again for the posts and details

Will the fogs stay on like auto daytime running lights or will you still have to turn them on & off at the stalk every time?

Also, if someone does buy it, please take some pics and measurements before you install them. I would like to add fogs, but if I can do aftermarket lights for way less I would be fine with that. I would love to know what size, depth, etc... to look for. Though they would have to fit properly for a factory look.

Trick, it is my understanding that these WILL NOT operate like DRLs. These are fog lights, exactly like the factory option with the switch in the turn signal stalk.

Yes they are a bit pricey, but if you buy the fog lights installed on a new car from the factory, it is a $300 option. Installing it yourself comes out approx. $100 cheaper. The turn signal stalk part (with the fog light switch) by itself actually cost almost $200 to replace.

I ordered the kit and will try to take measurements and pics before installing.

Obviously you can come up with an aftermarket solution that will be much inexpensive.

I just received the Fog Lamp Kit (Part Number 999L1-4Z000) I recently ordered. I'll be tied up for a couple of weeks so installation will have to wait till then. I thought I'd post some pics to show the contents of the kit for everyone's info. Anyone who needs more measurements or photos, please let me know so I can do it before I start the installation.

Aside from these parts, also included are a bunch of fasteners and wire ties.

This is the driver's side lamp.

Drivers side fog lamp with the mounting bracket. Passenger side is mirror image of these parts.

Lights/Wipers switch stalk assembly with added Fog Lamp switch of the left stalk.

Wire harness assembly to connect the lights to existing car harness.

Lamp and bracket together (orientation is upside down). This whole assembly fits behind the fog lamp hole on the front bumper fascia.

Is it possible to install this on the S+?
the instructions say on line two "(SV only)"
There must be a reason why is says SV only. I would guess the wiring harness for S/S+ is different from the SV/SL models and may not incorporate the actual wires for the Fog Lamp circuit. Otherwise there is no reason why they would limit it to SV only and restrict/reduce the sale of these kits. Obviously these kits are money makers for Nissan.

So I finally found the time to install my Fog Lamp Kit (PN 999L1-4Z000) and boy what an ordeal. I must be getting old for this. I guess it wasn't all that bad only two broken tabs, a small cut on one hand, and a whole bunch of scratches on my arms.

Since most of the body parts are just snapped together, this was the most difficult part of the project, not knowing if you are going to break anything while you pull things apart. It took a lot of patience to get it done.

The Nissan PDF instructions I found from the web were not too descriptive and in most cases the car is not symmetrical. Accessibility on the right side was much easier than on the left.

Overall, it turned out great, even got a surprise new feature for my wipers.

TOOK ME OVER 3 HOURS JUST TO GET TO THIS POINT

BACK SIDE OF RADIATOR FRONT COVER

BACK SIDE OF GRILL

CLOSE UP OF GRILL ATTACHING POINTS ON BUMPER

RIGHT SIDE DONE

BOTH SIDES DONE, GRILL REINSTALLED

As I mentioned in another posting, the kit came with Variable Time Intermittent Wiper Feature which I was not expecting at all.

Awesome post. I would love fogs but the rational side of me knows its not worth $200-300 bucks. I was originally thinking maybe aftermarkets, but the brackets are complex and the intermittent wipers upgrade, the ease of the wiring harness, and a perfect fit make it a fair deal for $200 DIY project. I know see generic aftermarkets would be a waste of time.

Thanks again!

Thank you for the pictorial and information. Just to be clear, the Note SV is prewired for the fogs, correct? From a wiring standpoint it's plug and play?
Absolutely! For the SV model, the fogs are pre-wired, everything was plug and play.

As I mentioned, the most difficult part was taking the body parts off. Also, it did not say on the instructions but I ended up removing the front tires just to have easier access installing the fog lamp bracket at the back of the front fascia.
